Questions and Response – Alternative Products MIA Precast Panel Repair

Question 1: I would like to please request the following products as alternates/equals to the specified products listed below. Material data sheets are attached for the submitted products. Please feel free to let me know if any further information is needed.

Strengthening of Concrete 03-01-30-3

2.1 FRP Reinforcement Fabric and/or Laminate: Tyfo SCH-41 Composite Systems by Fyfe Companies

2.3 Saturant Tyfo S Epoxy by Fyfe Companies

2.2 Concrete Surface Primer and Corrosion Inhibitor – Surco Primer FRP & Corrosion Inhibitor by Surtreat

Answer 1: These alternative products are considered acceptable. See attached material data sheets.

Question 2: I’m not sure if this should go to you, yet I came across this just now in the spec and wanted to see if FYFE could be an approved equal for the material?

C. Approved products are:

1. Sika Carbodur Adhesive Resin, Sika Corp.

2. Alternate products must be submitted and approved by the Engineer a minimum of two weeks prior to the bid date.

Answer 2: See answer to question 1.

Question 3: I am currently working with DYWIDAG-Systems International to supply them the FRP needed to retrofit the MIA ACTC Towers.

I am attaching the data sheet of the Tyfo SCH System within this email to have it approved – please confirm the approval of the system?
