About this file
This document contains an anchor chain gauging report and related emails for the training ship TS Freedom Star. The report provides measurements for the inside, outside, and average diameters of sections of the starboard and port anchor chains, with approval from ABS to proceed with painting the chains. Rhoads Industries submitted the report to MARAD and received confirmation to move forward with painting. A separate federal contract opportunity notice involves regulatory dry docking of the TS Freedom Star in fiscal year 2023, to be solicited by MARAD Norfolk with an anticipated statement of work.

TS Freedom Star Readings by: Kevin Casey 6/15/2020
There were many more master links on the STBD side chain relative to the Port side; therefore, more shots were taken for the Starboard chain links.

Hey Mark, Please see attached for an updated Anchor Chain report for the TS Freedom Star; I was mistaken on 2 of the readings on the initial submission (I highlighted those in yellow on the attached to draw your attention to the new/correct readings). I also tried to adjust the spreadsheet to visually match reports you’ve seen in the past, using an example provided by Tim McGeein from MARAD for the Freedom
Star’s previous docking at Colonna’s Shipyard. Please let me know if you have any questions on this sheet and I will make any adjustments you’re looking for.
Thank you, KEVIN CASEY
Project Engineer
