Include project names, locations, and contract information for project owners; and

(b) A résumé for each professional engineer or professional engineering geologist with at least 5 years of experience in the design and construction of ground anchors soldier pile retaining walls. The on-site engineer or geologist does not need to be a licensed Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist in the state, if they have at least 2 years of experience in the design and construction of ground anchors soldier pile retaining walls working under the direct supervision of the above-referenced professional engineer/engineering geologist.

F-14 DIVISION 250

Special Contract Requirements Project: AK FS CNF 1015(2), Russian River Campground Access, Phase 2

(b) Equipment and methods of excavation to ensure adequate advancement to the proposed depths suitable to the anticipated site and subsurface conditions, maintain wall and slope stability, and perform cleanout of the hole. Include a containment and disposal plan for excavated material and drilling slurry;

(c) Retaining wall construction sequence;

(d) Soldier pile types and sizes, if proposing alternative to materials specified in the plans.

Provide details of soldier pile placement including internal support bracing and centralization methods;

(e) Details of concrete placement including proposed operational procedures for pumping and/or tremie methods;

(f) Drilling method and materials for ground anchors according to Subsection 256.04, where ground anchors are shown in the plans;

(g) Temporary lagging design details, including locations of pre-drilled holes in piles for lagging screws and timber attachment, and backfill materials and method of installation.

Provide appropriate details of how subsurface drainage is to be accommodated, such as using a geocomposite drain or the use of free-draining backfill, if the lagging cannot be installed tight up against an even soil surface. If free-draining backfill is proposed, describe when and how the backfill will be placed and maintained in placed during top-down construction.

263.05 General. Check existing site conditions for conformance with the plans. Provide logs from on-site engineer or geologist of material condition descriptions from roadway surface to bottom of drilled shafts.

Excavate according to Section 209. Backfill according to Section 208.

Verify limits of wall installation. Submit installation drawings according to Subsection 104.03.

If proposing an alternate construction method, submit to the CO for approval prior to start of work according to Subsection 104.03. See Section 257 for Contractor-designed retaining walls.

263.06 Soldier pile installation. Provide steel beams conforming to the plans or approved drawings. If driven piles are specified, then conform to Section 551. Field cutting steel beams is not allowed. Drive or drill pile, as specified, to the “bottom of pile” or “bottom of shaft” elevation shown on the plans. When pre-drilling, do the following:

(a) Drill through material to “bottom of shaft” elevation as shown in the plans. When caving conditions are encountered, do not excavate further until the Contractor has implemented the method to prevent ground caving as described in their submittal. Do not leave more than 2 inches of loose or disturbed materials in the bottom of the hole for soldier piles with permanent ground anchors, or more than 12 inches of loose material for soldier piles with without permanent ground anchors.
