1.0 BUILDING INFORMATION

Building #13 was originally constructed in 1945; limited renovations are evident in the building.

The interior floor finishes included floor tile, ceramic tie, and concrete; the interior wall finishes included gypsum wallboard, concrete block, concrete, and brick; and the interior ceiling finishes included ceiling tile, concrete, and metal. The roofing system is a peaked asphalt-shingle roof;

the exterior of the structure is brick.

The piping systems were insulated; fiberglass insulation (without hard fittings) is located throughout the structure. Fireproofing was observed in the structure. HVAC systems located in the structure consisted of steam radiators and forced air furnaces equipped with heating/cooling coils.

2.0 ASBESTOS SURVEY INFORMATION

Building #13 was surveyed as part of a larger project for the VA. This report is part of “Volume 2” of a two volume series. This report includes building specific information only; please refer to the opening section of “Volume 2” for methodologies, definitions, and other pertinent supporting information.

A total of 39 samples were collected from suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM) on October 15, 2008. Laboratory analysis results indicate 10 of these samples tested positive for asbestos.
