DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR INFORMATION BEING REQUESTED

The plans and specifications vaguely address the installation of a tamper switch connected to the existing fire alarm system. Will the VA clarify if this will be a requirement for this project, and if so, provide the related drawings and specifications depicting the work and the terminal point of connection? This work would require additional trenching and conduit to the building holding the FACP, and also possibly routed through the building to the actual point of connection. Also, will the VA provide the contact information for the vendor currently servicing the existing fire alarm system?

VA PROJECT MANAGER’S RESPONSE

The installation and connection of a temper switch is not required, hence, there are no related drawings and/or specifications depicting the work and a terminal point of connection. A conduit for installation of a tamper switch is required as indicated. Since there is no existing panel to connect the tamper switch within the building footprint; the conduit (with pull string) is the only requirement in this work. There is no existing fire alarm system for the building therefore the VA does not have any contact information of any vendor.
