About this file
This document contains a pre-solicitation notice and project description for a federal construction contract opportunity with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The solicitation will be issued to prepare a new site for an MRI building at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Ohio. Work includes all labor, supervision, materials and equipment according to drawings and specifications. The performance period is 245 calendar days from notice to proceed. The solicitation will be posted on March 20, 2020 at FBO.gov with proposals due approximately 30 days later. This is a 100% set-aside for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses. The estimated value is between $2-5 million under NAICS code 236220. The SDVOSB prime or subcontractor must perform a minimum of 15% of construction work. Bid, payment and performance bonds will be required along with a one-time site visit. Questions may be emailed by the deadline specified.

SIDE-MOUNTED
For narrow corridors or entry vestibules, side-mounting may be the most functional and attractive option.
REAR-MOUNTED
For doorway protection for in-swinging RF doors (swinging into the MRI scanner room). Indicated when space in front of the doorway is constricted.
FREESTANDING
Freestanding setup is the most flexible and allows for ‘on the fly’ reconfiguration, if desired. Baseplates prepared to receive floor anchors for seismic zones.
SAFESCAN®
INTERCEPT PILLARS®
Established the benchmark as the premiere and most cost effective dual pass-through ferromagnetic detector in the marketplace. Freestanding or mounted, the variable-aperture dual-pillar INTERCEPT PILLAR® system can be configured for nearly any siting condition.
For doorway protection, there is no superior product to the dual
INTERCEPT PILLAR® system. Narrower configurations provide greater sensitivity for small ferromagnetic threats.
Constructed from rigid aluminum tubing and the highest quality components, this dual-pillar system is designed to endure vigorous use in all clinical MRI environments.

Variable (Recommended ≥ 26 inches to ≤ 54 inches, greater when required).
Normal / Night mode rocker switch.
Volume, variable rotary control.
Sensitivity, multi-position rotary switch with key lock.
Ready, green LED on top of each vertical pillar.
Alarm, flashing red LED on top of each vertical pillar.
Both red and green LED illuminate during pillar alignment.
Alarm buzzer ~2.5kHz to ~ 3.8kHz.
Photoelectric sensor, reflective beam on each pillar.
Utilizes gradiometers to reduce nuisance alarms from nearby moving metal / electromagnetic signals.
Each side has a separate 110 VAC adapter, UL E150854 (220 VAC, CE labeled adapter available).
0.4 A maximum, 0.3 A nominal.
Freestanding – 72” high x 14” wide ” x 13” deep (1.83 x 0.36 x 0.43 m) each pillar.
Mounted – 72” high x 4” wide ” x 4” deep with 2” stand-off (1.83 x 0.1 x 0.1 m) each pillar.
38 lbs (17.3 kg) each pillar, including movable base plate (shipping weight approx. 120 lbs (54.4 kg)).
Three year parts and service for defects in manufacturing / workmanship.
Enhanced sensitivity achieved by using a patented small, non-radiating DC (passive) field, which diminishes to less than 5 G at a distance of 18-inches. Does not affect imaging quality, credit cards, or cell phones.
Protected by multiple issued Patents.
