1: Sheet 1A109 has a (1A) designation at the bottom of the page. The bottom arrow is pointing at a door.
- Can the government provide clarification of what the arrow is pointing at and also the number of (1A) items needed in the bathroom? Note placed in error. Ignore. Will be deleted.
2: Sheet 1-A117 and multiple other sheets have walls that are dashed in and light in color. An example of this is at Sheet B-4 at the nurse’s station.
- What does these dashed lines represent? Light lines are millwork. Dashed lines are gyp bd bulkheads above.
3: Sheet 1-A117 and numerous other Architectural Sheets shows a “Floor Plan Legend” There is also wall type details.
- Can the government provide plans or clarification showing the new wall construction?
Notes reference specific details elsewhere in set.
4: There is no ceiling type designation for CW149B on sheet 1-A120
- On Sheet 1-A120 what ceiling type designation should be in “Flow Cytometer CW149B” ? No work in this area. Dashed line should be ignored.
5: There is no ceiling type designation for multiple rooms on sheet 1-A121
- Can the government provide a ceiling type designation for the following rooms:?
o CE147 No work in this area. Dashed line should be ignored.
o CW133 - C3.
o CW132 - C2.
o CW136 - C3.
6: There is no ceiling type designation for Toilet 119 on sheet 1-A128.
- Can the government provide a ceiling type designation for Toilet 119 on sheet 1-A128? – C2.
7: Sheet 1-A130 shows no Architectural work. However, when overlaying the plumbing work there appears to be the need for architectural items.
- Can the government provide a corrected 1-A130 showing the required architectural work or confirm there is no architectural work? No architectural work in this area. Only plumbing.
8: There is no ceiling type designation for Corridor C1-7 on sheet 1A-A108.
- Can the government provide a ceiling type for Corridor C1-7 on sheet 1A-A108? – All Corridors are C3.
9: There is no ceiling type designation for Corridor C1-9 on sheet 1A-A110.
- Can the government provide a ceiling type for Corridor C1-9 on sheet 1A-A110?
- All Corridors are ACT.
10: There is no ceiling type designation for Corridor CU F308 on sheet 1A-A117.
- Can the government provide a ceiling type for Corridor CU F308 on sheet 1A-A117?
11: There is no ceiling type designation for Corridor G332A on sheet 1A-A118.
- Can the government provide a ceiling type for Corridor G332A on sheet 1A-A118?
12: Plumbing demolition drawings, note 1 states “Plug all floor and wall penetrations with approved fire stop materials.
- If pipes are completely removed through the wall penetrations during demolition, the annular space may be too large for fire caulking or fire putty to meet UL requirements.
The required repair may need to include masonry infill or new gypsum assembly work.
Should bidders assume that if fire caulking alone will not adequately address the penetration due to size/type of opening that this will be handled as an unforeseen condition? In previous work at this facility, we have noted that there are many instances where several CMU blocks may have been removed to accommodate a less than 2” diameter pipe to penetrate the wall. How are bidders to quantify these openings that do not currently meet UL fire stopping requirements if a designed solution is necessary?
- ANSWER: Designer is led to believe that under most circumstances that a fire rated wall is just that and currently contains sleeves and fire stop materials at all domestic water penetrations. Sleeve is to remain and be fire stopped or wall can be repaired to match existing fire rating. Refer to architectural sheets for fire rated assemblies and walls. All other openings shall be addressed with COR on case by case basis.
13: The specifications for this project include numerous electrical (Division 26) sections.
However, there are no electrical drawings included in the drawing package. Please clarify if all the required electrical scopes of this project are included in the plumbing drawings or if separate electrical sheets are available to identify the work of this division?
ANSWER: All electrical work is included on Plumbing sheets, No electrical sheets exist.
14: Specification section 21 11 00, paragraph 2.2 states that pipes 2.5” and larger shall be grooved fittings. Due to the physical space limitations above ceiling, it may be difficult or impossible to get a groove or pro press tool in the space. With this in mind, will it be acceptable to provide sweat fittings for piping that is 2.5” and larger?
ANSWER: Piping may be brazed with 15% silfos for 2.5” and larger with COR written approval in these locations.
15: A detail is provided in the plans for backflows but we are unable to confirm that any are being replaced. Please confirm.
ANSWER: No backflow preventers are being replaced.
16: Note #6 on the new work sheets calls to replace the valve per specs. On sheet P001 Note N it calls to provide new valves at all branch line connections. Please confirm that the valves we are carrying in Note N are the only other valves we need to quantify other than the Note #6.
ANSWER: Confirmed, All valves per New Work Note #6 and quantity in Note N on sheet P001 is total quantity to be replaced with new.
17: Please confirm we are not replacing the main risers in the chases and only tying into them also confirm that that drops at the fixtures are not getting replaced.
ANSWER: Indicate sheet # and area for this question.
18: On sheet 1-PP121 Building 1 second floor area C Note #3 in canteen 234 what are these that are getting replaced? This also shows up on sheet 1-PP122 Building 1 area D in room
BE201.
ANSWER: Refer to sheet 1-PD121 and similar for all areas of like note. This is a reconnection of existing piping where dead end or non-used piping is removed as noted on PD sheets. Do not cap tees, remove tees and replace with pipe section or 90° ell fitting.
19: Who is responsible for the final balancing of the hot water return system?
ANSWER: Hot water system is self-balancing through the use of the thermostatic balancing valves and VFD pumps. No balancing or report required.
20: Specification section 07 84 00, 1.5 C indicates that the contractor is to engage a qualified 3rd part inspector to perform fire stop inspections and final reports. Since firestopping will be ongoing throughout the period of performance, this will be a costly requirement of the project in order to have this dedicated 3rd party inspector. Would the government consider removing this requirement as long as fire stopping workers are certified on the system being installed? This is an owner question. Any variance from specs must be approved by COR.
21: The plans include a drawing sheet for instrumentation and controls work. However, we do not see a specification section for this work. Please provide a corresponding specification.
ANSWER: Refer to section 23 09 24, and all 27 sections.
22: On drawing 5-MED201 note A states to disconnect and remove power associated with existing water heater EW-1. Where is the panel located that feeds EW-1?
ANSWER: Contractor to verify existing panel location with VA. Remove wiring to nearest junction box at each heater location and remove wiring from breaker in panel. Label panel breaker as spare. Removal of all conduit and wiring from junction box to panel is not required.
23: On drawing 5-MED201 note C states to disconnect and remove power associated with existing water heater EW-2. Where is the panel located that feeds EW-2?
ANSWER: Contractor to verify existing panel location with VA. Remove wiring to nearest junction box at each heater location and remove wiring from breaker in panel. Label panel breaker as spare. Removal of all conduit and wiring from junction box to panel is not required.
24: On Detail drawing PP401, Detail 6, Note 6 is a “Integral touch screen water quality monitor”.
Do these require power and if so what voltage? If required where should these be fed from?
ANSWER: Electrical notes are located on PP sheets at each monitoring location. These are all 120v items. Notes indicate where to pick up circuits.
