GenFlex Water Stop

Vertical substrate must be clean and suitable for flashing.
Alternate flashing substrates may be installed over existing vertical substrates if conditions prevent the substrate from meeting GenFlex flashing requirements.
Examples of alternate substrates are: 1/2" (13 mm) minimum thickness exterior grade plywood and 22 ga (0.76 mm) G-90 galvanized steel. Securement must be achieved with corrosion resistant fasteners and be sufficient to resist 125 lb
(556.03 N) of pullout pressure per square foot.
For compression details that utilize GenFlex Water Stop, the substrate must be bared in the compression area down to either a masonry or metal surface.

2.
3.
As with any surface-mounted termination, the vertical substrate above the seal must be waterproofed and maintained by the property owner in order to ensure performance of the detail.

Common Counter-Flashing & Membrane Securement
Membrane securement at 12" (305 mm) out from penetration and 12" o.c. (305 mm) required for Mechanically Attached Roof Systems. This can be accomplished with seam plates and fasteners overlaid with either TPO Cover Tape, a target patch of
TPO field membrane for the boot flange to be welded to, or with 6" (152 mm) TPO
Reinforced Flashing. When installation of the pipe boot would overlap a field seam, install a minimum 24" x 24" (610 mm x 610 mm) target patch centered on the penetration before installing the pipe boot. Membrane securement may also be installed close to the penetration and flashed with the pipe boot as shown here.

Scupper Fabricated with TPO Coated Metal
Flash wall in accordance with GenFlex specification and cut wall flashing at scupper opening. Mount scupper with 3" (76 mm) wide metal mounting flange and continuous, rounded corners onto the wall substrate with a bead of GenFlex Water Stop between the metal flange and the wall flashing membrane (be sure the metal joint in the sleeve is at the top of the scupper assembly).
Secure per SMACNA recommendations and as required to hold Water Stop under constant compression. Flash the scupper assembly with a large enough piece of TPO unreinforced flashing to cover the entire assembly and extend 3" (76 mm) beyond the flange in all directions. Cut the TPO unreinforced flashing at the scupper opening, and turn flashing 1 1/2" to 2" (38 mm to
51 mm) into the scupper outlet tube while welding the TPO unreinforced flashing to the interior of the TPO coated metal sleeve.
GenFlex Edge Sealant is required on all membrane cut edges with exposed scrim.

Gravel Stop/Drip Edge Securement Pattern
When running gas line supports on a Mechanically Attached Roof System, care must be taken to run the supports on the lines of membrane securement in order to prevent movement caused by sheet flutter. The support area may be isolated from the main portion of the roof by installing a row of membrane securement on each side of the supports and then stripping them in with TPO Cover Tape installed to GenFlex specification.

Water Stop
When installing a vertically mounted lightning rod, first clean mounting area of membrane with TPO Cleaner, and apply a generous bead of GenFlex Water Stop to back of mounting plate in a pattern that crosses all holes in the plate. Position the plate in mounting location, and secure it to the wall, making certain that the fasteners penetrate the bead of Water Stop. Securement must be adequate to hold the bracket firmly to the substrate. Caulk the perimeter of the mounting plate with GenFlex Termination Caulk, and fill in all exposed holes on mounting plate with Termination Caulk. Install the lightning protection grounding cable as in Detail T-19.02.
Application of lightning protection on Mechanically Attached Systems requires the use of roof pavers to provide a stable surface to which the lightning rods can be mounted. Use minimum 24" x 24" x 2" (610 mm x 610 mm x 51 mm) pavers, weighing no less than 40 lb (18.14 kg) each. The pavers must be laid in the necessary pattern on slip-sheets of TPO membrane that extend 3" (76 mm) beyond paver in all directions. These slip-sheets should be secured to the paver with a dollop of Termination Caulk. Care must be taken to run the pavers along the lines of membrane securement because this type of roof system will produce some amount of sheet flutter when subjected to significant wind loads. Install the lightning protection grounding cable between pavers as in Detail T-19.02.

6. Once the Peel & Stick membrane has been wrapped around the primed curb, prime the top of the membrane panel end in preparation for the flap to be wrapped around the corner and mated to the membrane surface. In keeping with good roofing practice, the flap should be oriented on the down-slope side of the penetration.
After the primer applied in Step 6 flashes-off, wrap the membrane flap around the corner and roll into place.

All vertical substrates require priming with GenFlex Clear Primer.
Porous, or highly absorbant substrates may require a second primer application after the initial application seals the substrate.
Peel & Stick EZ TPO (HW) may be seamed by hot air welding the selvedge edge of the flashing to the deck sheet (min. 1.5" wide welds) or with 3" White Seam Tape and clear primer.
Peel & Stick EZ TPO (SA) must be seamed in accordance with
"SA" seaming instructions - refer to 3.06.B3 in the Peel & Stick EZ
TPO specification.
The strip-in flashing must extend 3" (76.20 mm) beyond the seam edge onto the deck sheet and vertically to a point 3" (76 mm) above the angle change.
"SA" seams and "HW" seam tape seams require a continuous high profile bead of edge caulk the same day the seams are assembled.
Standard TPO membrane & Bonding Adhesive may be used as parapet flashing with no strip-in of vertical joints required when the seams are assembled with hot air welds.
