About this file
This document is a technical specification for ceiling mounted patient lift systems for the Richmond VA Medical Center's Improve Patient Privacy 4B project. The specification details requirements for two types of patient lifts: a regular patient ceiling lift with a 600 lb capacity and a bariatric patient ceiling lift with a 1000 lb capacity. Key technical requirements include a room-covering traverse system, on-demand return-to-charge function, all-metal drive train, lift cycle counter, high-capacity battery, four-point bar for patient straps, and an on-board diagnostic indicator.
The specification mandates extensive technical features for the motor/hoist, including an internal weight scale, capability to display weight and service data on a hand controller, ability to lift patients from the floor, multiple safety mechanisms, and remote monitoring capabilities. The system must be compatible with existing loop slings, operate at specific lifting speeds, and include emergency stop and lowering features. The manufacturer must provide a comprehensive turnkey installation, with a warranty of either 3 years or 10 years if annual preventive maintenance is performed, and the expected life of the ceiling lift system is specified as a minimum of 15 years.
