About this file

This document is a service report from Barclay Water Management detailing water treatment activities and test results for three cooling towers at the VA Albany Stratton Building in Albany, New York. The report indicates that Cooling Towers 1 and 2 were online, Tower 3 was started manually, and conductivity, chlorine, bacteria, pH, and polymer levels were tested and largely within specified ranges for each tower. Sediment buildup was noted in the basins. The report includes photos documenting the service work. The related federal contract opportunity is for chemical treatment services at the VA Albany boiler and chiller plants located at the same address. The solicitation number and agency details are provided.

Opening Comment Towers 1 and 2 online. Tyler started Tower 3. Both towers chemical pumps were checked for operation, dosing, and leaks. Tower 1 and 2 strainer was dirty causing no flow condition and was pulled and cleaned. I was told that there have been issues with 1, 2 and 3 towers over flowing on to the roof. Tyler is going to be trouble shooting the towers today. If the overflowing continues please let Todd or my self know so we can keep track of inventory.

Cooling Towers 1 & 2 Online Controller was in a no flow state when I got on site, and the strainer was plugged. Once the strainer was pulled and cleaned the controller had flow. The tower basin shows some sediment starting to build up. See attached photos. The conductivity was high once water was back flowing though the controller. The tower was bleeding back down in to range. Please keep an eye on the strainer basket to ensure flow to the controller. The bleed valve was tested and had full flow showing now sign of restriction. Conductivity was verified using my Myron P6 meter. Please see attached photos.

How are we doing? Let us know at feedback@barclaywater.com. We recommend that our customers perform routine water testing between service visits, to assure the proper performance of the water treatment program on a continuous basis. For supplemented potable water systems, it’s important to remember that monochloramine, like all oxidants, will degrade over time.

Flushing may be required, under low/no flow conditions, to increase monochloramine level at distal points. BWF 409-7 REV. 05/24/2023
