RFI QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q1: There is no indication on the plans that differentiate what WP goes where on the plans. The finish plan just labels all Wall Protection WP. Page AE508 shows typical Wall Protection that appears to have panels and the a 8” Acrovyn Crash Rail. The Finish Schedule calls for an Acrovyn Handrail/Crashrail but the product number does not exist?
Q2: Please clarify which WP goes where?
Q3: Please clarify if the only rail is the one detailed on AE508?
A1: The architect will issue (AE701 and AE702 - rev 1.pdf) revised drawings soon, and the revision will resolve all finish questions in this RFI and other RFIs. The [Acrovyn Handrail/Crashrail … product number] will be corrected with the drawing revision.
A2: On AE701, Basis of Design Finishes Schedule, Wall Protection, add the following to the [Notes] column:
· WP-3 Notes - Use at Corridors PC-E and PC-F
· WP-4 Notes - Use at Corridors PC-A, PC-B, PC-C and PC-D
· WP-5 Notes - Use at Corridors MC-1, MC-2, MC-3, MC-4
A3: See the wall protection details at the top of drawing AE508. Detail 17/AE508 is the only rail detail related to wall protection Q1: What is the specification information for the Access panels?
Q2: What is the specification information for the Reinstallation of the 3 each Patient Lifts on drawing AE221 note 3?
Q3: Could you provide the manufacture of the different types of exterior panels? Will we be require to provide a warrantee for the exterior panel systems areas that are disturbed during construction?
A1: Add the following to drawings AE221.A, AE221.B and AE221.C at Reflected Ceiling Plan Note 13 and other locations where [access panels] are required: Basis of Design for the ceiling mounted access panels is Acudor DW-5040 flush drywall ceiling panel 24” x 24”.
A2: See AE2221.A, AE2221.B and AE2221.C at Reflected Ceiling Plan Note 3, and note the following errors in the contractor question: The patient lifts are furnished by the construction contract so this is NOT a reinstallation. There are more than 3-lifts shown on the plans. Add the following to Note 3: Patient lifts are to be furnished and installed by the contractor. Bariatric lift capacity is 1000 lbs. Non-bariatric is 650 lbs. Basis of Design is Handicare 650 and 1,000 lbs. capacity units. See the following links:
https://www.handicareusa.com/product/c-625-fixed-ceiling-lift/ https://www.handicareusa.com/product/c-1000-bariatric-ceiling-lift/
A3: Add the following information to AD121 note 13 (tagged near grid A-19). This is a suggested temporary 2ND floor exterior wall opening for moving material in and out of the building, and the following are contractor responsibilities if the option is selected:
· At the 2ND floor near grid A-19.7 disassembly of the wall system includes the following:
· Contact the VA to photograph the removal at each layer (for backup information).
· Remove existing Trespa panels.
· Remove existing vertical Trespa aluminum sub-framing members. Select structurally acceptable cut locations.
· Remove existing 2-inch rigid insulation pieces.
· Remove existing horizontal Z-purlins screwed to Cold Formed Metal Framing (CFMF). Select structurally acceptable cut locations.
· Remove existing DensElement sheathing.
· Remove existing Rockwool batt insulation.
· Remove existing CFMF and bridging from 1’-4” Above Finished Floor (AFF) to 8’-0” AFF.
· Store existing exterior wall materials (including screws) for reinstallation.
· Provide a temporary lockable access-opening that protects the building from weather.
· OSHA and other safety regarding this access-opening is 100% contractor responsibility.
· Reassemble wall system when construction access is no longer required including the following:
· Fill the existing interior masonry opening with CFMF 6” x 1 5/8” x 16 gage at 16-inches on center (OC) with bridging 4-foot OC.
· Provide sheathing at each face of interior CFMF.
· Assume existing exterior CFMF removed is damaged and replace with CFMF 6” x 1 5/8” x 16 gage at 16-inches OC with bridging 4-foot OC.
· Reinstall existing Rockwool batt insulation.
· Assume existing DensElement is damaged, and replace with DensElement plus Prosoco sealant at all joints and screws.
· Reinstall existing horizontal Z-purlins screwed to Cold Formed Metal Framing (CFMF).
· Reinstall existing 2-inch rigid insulation pieces.
· Reinstall existing vertical Trespa aluminum sub-framing members.
· Reinstall existing Trespa panels with 3/8-inch joint between panels.
· Contractor is responsible for replacing any damaged or lost exterior wall materials.
· Contractor shall warranty installation for 2-year period.
· Contractor is NOT responsible for any product warranty for existing products that are removed and reinstalled.
Q1: Does all the casework need to be “Herman Miller” as noted on the finish schedule AE-701 or is that truly just basis of design?
Q2: Can you please provide the actual asbestos survey taken.
Q3: Can you provide a specification for the new lockers?
A1: Where “Herman Miller” is noted, that is just the “basis of design.” Note the following additional information regarding casework:
· On AE121.A to AE121.C at Exam Rooms and Procedure Rooms, and AE403 to AE409 enlarged plans and elevations, label all the [sink + casework-cabinet] graphics as [HERMAN MILLER or equivalent]. All of the [sink + casework-cabinet] graphics are construction contract furnished and installed, including plumbing. The [HERMAN MILLER SYSTEM] is the basis of design, and the contractor may submit equivalent contractor designed and detailed [exam room sinks + casework-cabinets] with layout similar to the [HERMAN MILLER SYSTEM] graphic shown on the AE403 to AE409 elevations.
· The following is more detail regarding the [casework-cabinets-counters] furnished and installed by the construction contract, on AE121.A to AE121.C at the following rooms: Staff Lounge Room 2225, Med Store/Prep Room 2242, Pact / CVT Teamlet 4 Room 2239, Pact Teamlet 3 Room 2255, Pact Teamlet 2 Room 2268, Pact Teamlet 1 Room 2284 and other rooms where counters are graphically shown on AE121.A to AE121.C: Basis of Design is Case Systems. Rooms 2225 & 2242 have graphic elevations. Rooms 2239, 2255, 2268 and 2284 have elevations similar to Room 2242 shown on detail 4 on AE405.
A2: See the attached (Asbestos - Lead-based Paint - Regulated Materials - 3-29-2019 report by Skelly and Loy - 92 pages.pdf). The construction contractor is only responsible for asbestos abatement in the work areas for this project. The report contains asbestos for the entire building, so areas where the project does not have work are Not In Contract (NIC).
A3: At plan 5 on AE404 add the following note: Basis of Design for the lockers is Salsbury Industries 12” Wide Double Tier ‘S’ Designer Wood Locker with exterior wood grain veneer selected from manufacture’s standard.
Q1: Reaching out this morning regarding the electrical panel one-line drawings. They show runs going to the “BASEMENT ELEC RM” however I am unable to determine the location of this room relative to the panels on the 2nd floor. I can estimate the vertical length of the run to the basement easily enough however I am uncertain about the lateral runs to the room itself. Am I missing something or is there some more information to be had here?
A1: See additional drawings issued as part of Amendment #0004
Q2: I am also looking for and not finding information necessary for the new lights to match the existing unaffected lights on drawing EL111. Could you assist with this as well please?
A2: See the attached (EL111 - rev 1.pdf), and the lighting was revised to match plan 2 on AE111.
Q1: Floor Plans AE121, 121.a, 121.b, 121.c and Details 8/AE503, 13/AE505
· Throughout the job most columns have enlarged plans on AE504 & AE505. Those drawings show 2 or 3 layers of gypsum board at column locations.
· There are 34 columns along the exterior CMU wall but only 2 of them have enlarged plans. CL G-25 refers you to 8/AE503 which shows 3 layers of GWB while CL A-30 refers you to 13/AE505 which shows 2 layers of GWB Do the exterior columns get wrapped in multiple layers of drywall? If so please issue a JD drawing showing typical details or enlarged plans
Q2: Floor Plan AE121, Ceiling Plans AE221, 221.a, 221.b, 221.c and details 2/AE221.c, 4/AE351
· Note #5 on floor plan AE121 says GWB ceiling with acoustical wrap above Teamlet workstations
· No other drawing or detail clarifies what this is. Details 2/AE221.c & 4/AE351 show blow ups of the areas but do not mention acoustical wrap on the ceilings.
Please clarify if the acoustical wrap is wanted and provide spec
A1: On drawings AE504 and AE505: At [Drawing Title] in title block change [PLAN DETAILS] to [TYPICAL PLAN DETAILS]. Add the following as a note in the bottom right corner of each sheet – [COLUMN PLAN DETAILS ON AE504 AND AE505 ARE TYPICAL, SO USE MOST SIMILAR DETAIL IF SPECIFIC COLUMN IS NOT DRAWN]. Plan detail 13 on AE505 is for all exterior columns, so change grid bubble [30] to [COL], change grid bubble [A] to include all (4) exterior grid lines: [A], [G], [1] and [31].
A2: At drawing AE121 Architectural Floor Plan Key Note #5, detail 4/AE351 and detail 2/AE221.C add the following note: Sound-absorbing panel as specified in Section 09 84 33 are to be attached to the underside of the gypsum board ceilings above the Teamlet work stations. Basis of Design: Acoustical Surfaces, Inc.
