About this file
This is a Florida Trench Safety Act Certification and Disclosure Statement document required by Hillsborough County, Florida for the CR 584 (Waters Ave) at Florida Mining Boulevard Intersection Improvements project. The document establishes mandatory compliance requirements for bidders undertaking excavation and trenching work on this traffic signal installation project. Bidders must acknowledge and commit to compliance with the Florida Trench Safety Act and the Federal excavation safety standards outlined in 29 CFR Part 1926.650, Subpart P, along with any supplemental shoring requirements established by the State of Florida or Hillsborough County. The contractor is solely responsible for selecting geotechnical data and designing an appropriate trench safety system, considering information available from the County, their own sources, and all other relevant project information.
Bidders must disclose the cost of compliance with trench safety requirements by itemizing each trench safety measure with associated quantities, unit costs, and extended costs. The total disclosed amount must match the cost identified in the contract requirement titled "Florida Trench Safety Act." The County's acceptance of any bid containing this certification does not constitute an evaluation or determination that the disclosed costs are adequate for compliance, nor does it relieve the contractor of its sole responsibility to comply with all applicable trench safety standards. Any additional costs necessary to achieve compliance beyond the disclosed amount must be expended by the contractor at no additional cost to the County, except as otherwise provided in the contract documents.
