About this file

This document is a comprehensive technical specification for Portland Cement Plaster (Specification 09 24 00) prepared for Pinellas County Schools, specifically for the Northeast High School Roof Replacement project involving Buildings 3, 6, 19, and 28. The specification provides detailed requirements for exterior Portland cement plasterwork, including materials, installation methods, accessories, application techniques, and quality standards for metal lath, water-resistive barriers, gypsum sheathing, and cement plaster composition. The document outlines precise technical requirements for three-coat plaster applications over metal lath and concrete unit masonry, specifying material types, mixing proportions, curing processes, and installation standards, with a focus on achieving specific thickness, texture, and performance criteria.

The specification references multiple industry standards including ASTM C 926, ASTM C 150, and ANSI A42.3, and provides detailed guidance on acceptable manufacturers for materials such as expanded metal lath, accessories, and gypsum sheathing. Manufacturers include United States Gypsum Company, Gold Bond Building Products, Vinyl Corp, and others. The document specifies technical details like diamond mesh lath configurations, cement types, aggregate requirements, and precise installation techniques, including control joint placement, curing times, and moisture management. The specification emphasizes quality control measures, such as maintaining specific tolerances (no more than 1/8" deviation in 10'-0"), implementing control joints, and ensuring proper bonding and curing of plaster coats.
