About this file
This document is an XRF Inspection Report for lead-based paint at the VA Medical Center Brooklyn Campus, located at 800 Poly Place, Brooklyn, NY 11209. Conducted by Athenics Environmental Services on 9/10/2024, the inspection used a SciAps X-550 XRF analyzer to test painted interior components across Buildings 1, 2, 4, 14, and 15. Out of 294 total XRF readings, 17 were found to have lead-based paint at or above the 0.5 mg/cm² standard as defined by New York City guidelines.
The report recommends lead-based paint abatement in accordance with NYC Local Law 1 of 2004, including clearance dust wipe sampling performed by a licensed contractor. Additionally, Athenics advises implementing EPA Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule (RRP) practices for any construction activities that might disturb lead-based paint, and following OSHA 3142-12R regulations to ensure worker safety. The inspection was limited to surfaces tested, and any inaccessible areas were not surveyed.
