About this vehicle
GSA Federal Acquisition Service established the Professional Services Schedule as a Master GSA Schedule on August 15, 1997, consolidating seven previously separate schedules (FABS, AIMS, Language Services, Professional Engineering Services, MOBIS, LOGWORLD, and Environmental Services). Ordering remains open through September 29, 2108.
The vehicle operates as an unrestricted multiple-award schedule with 3,167 distinct prime contractors competing across 71 subcategories spanning business consulting, financial services, environmental remediation, engineering, advertising, language services, and logistics support. Task-order activity has declined sharply: 587 orders in 2022, 537 in 2023, 226 in 2024, and only 5 cumulative awards in 2025–2026. Combined task-order potential value stands at $130.33 billion, with $82.7 billion obligated (63% of potential).
Language and translation services dominate awarded task orders by volume. Advanced Language Systems International Inc. holds the largest order count at 40,114 orders valued at $145.1 million combined potential; Metropolitan Interpreters & Translators, Inc. and Pro-Telligent, LLC follow with 3,099 and 2,988 orders respectively. Among primes ranked by dollar value, Logistics Management Institute leads with $1.72 billion combined potential across 1,229 orders, followed by NTT Data Services Federal Government, LLC at $998.8 million and Communication Institute International, Inc. at $876.9 million. The long tail of 3,160+ additional contractors suggests activity is broadly distributed rather than concentrated among a few dominant players.
Customer concentration centers on the Department of Justice: the Drug Enforcement Administration placed 5,353 orders valued at $410.9 million, and Bureau of Prisons entities account for several thousand additional orders. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is also a substantial customer with 2,310 orders and $1.38 billion in combined potential value.
Set-aside designations across task orders show overwhelmingly unrestricted competition: 1,312% of total orders carry no set-aside, while small business awards total 118% of orders across all set-aside categories combined.
Typical task-order values range from tens of thousands to low millions. Representative recent orders include telephonic interpretation services at $800,000 ceiling (awarded February 2026), environmental fuel tank work at $1.66 million (June 2025), and translation services ranging from $2,400 to $245,900. Most task orders are firm fixed price or labor hour pricing, with periods of performance spanning one to three years.
The steep decline in 2024–2026 ordering activity and the consolidation of seven legacy schedules into a single vehicle suggest the PSS may be reaching maturity or facing competitive pressure from newer contract vehicles or GSA ordering practices. Pursuit remains viable for firms with expertise in translation, interpretation, logistics, or program support services seeking access to a broad federal customer base, but the ordering slowdown warrants caution on volume expectations.
