About this opportunity

College of Coastal Georgia is requesting bids for installation of Needlepoint BiPolar Ionization (NBPI) units on existing central station air handlers across multiple buildings on its Main Campus in Brunswick and Camden Center in Kingsland, with bids due July 14, 2022. Work includes electrical support for HVAC demolition and new system installation, with buildings remaining occupied during construction and work restricted to 10 PM–7 AM or weekends to minimize disruption to classroom operations.

The contractor must hold a current Georgia mechanical license, demonstrate four years in business without prior default, and provide evidence of successful completion of at least three mechanical construction projects involving hydronic systems and air distribution totaling a minimum $275,000 each. A superintendent with four years of similar project experience is required. A mandatory preconstruction meeting follows Notice of Award.

NBPI systems must meet specific pathogen kill-rate criteria: MRSA >96% in 30 minutes, E. coli >99% in 15 minutes, TB >69% in 60 minutes, and C. difficile >86% in 30 minutes, with independent NELEC-accredited laboratory verification. Systems must produce a minimum of 15 million ions per cubic centimeter, operate with balanced positive and negative ion output, comply with UL 867-2007 standards, and generate zero detectable ozone. The contractor must maintain relative humidity below 55 percent and implement weekly construction filter changes for dust control.

Two deductive alternates are available: Alternate No. 1 to omit electric unit heaters and associated electrical infrastructure, and Alternate No. 2 to omit unit-mounted variable frequency controllers and relocate existing controllers. The contractor provides a one-year warranty from Material Completion and must submit product specifications, shop drawings, test reports, and operation and maintenance manuals before project closeout. Progress meetings are scheduled at maximum bi-monthly intervals. Questions due and anticipated award date are not identified in the source.
