About this opportunity
Monroe County Board of County Commissioners is requesting proposals for countywide appliance repair services across multiple County-owned facilities under RFP posted July 30, 2026, with proposals due August 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. via the Bonfire electronic bidding platform.
The scope covers on-site repair, preventative maintenance, parts supply, and replacements for residential, commercial, and industrial-grade appliances including refrigerators, walk-in coolers, ice makers, ranges, ovens, dishwashers, washers, and dryers. The Contractor must submit a standard hourly rate for service calls during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday), a non-standard hourly rate for weekend and after-hours service, and a percentage discount off manufacturer's suggested retail price for parts. No additional charges for travel, mileage, meals, or lodging are permitted; these expenses must be incorporated into hourly rates. Invoicing is due in itemized format with hours calculated in fifteen-minute increments.
The initial contract term is two years commencing in 2026 and terminating in 2028, with County option to renew for up to five additional one-year periods upon written notice at least thirty days prior to expiration. Proposals are scored on a 100-point scale: Proposed Costs of Services at 40 points and Staff Qualifications and Prior Experience at 60 points. The County anticipates award on October 21, 2026.
The Contractor must obtain general liability insurance with a minimum of $1,000,000 combined single limit, business automobile liability of $300,000, and workers' compensation insurance with employers' liability limits of $500,000. Monroe County Board of County Commissioners must be named as additional insured on all policies except workers' compensation. All standard County compliance forms, public entity crime statements, drug-free workplace certification, non-collusion affidavits, and vendor scrutinized companies list certifications are required with proposal submission. A non-mandatory pre-proposal conference is scheduled for August 7, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Stock Island Detention Center in Key West.
