About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for structural and preservation work related to inflatable life raft replacement on the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19). The TGI details specific work to be performed at various locations on the ship, including main deck weather areas, staterooms, voids, and other compartments. The work involves load testing of liferail stanchions and synthetic rope guardline assemblies, visual inspections of new welds, and installation of new components.
Key technical requirements include performing a static load test of 3,000 pounds on top staples of stanchions, testing synthetic rope guardline assemblies under a 1,100-pound load, and conducting visual inspections of new welds. The work is part of a larger ship repair project scheduled from January 12, 2026 to April 2, 2027, to be executed at the Ship Repair Facility - Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC). The TGI includes detailed material lists, mapping plans, and quality assurance documentation to ensure proper execution of the life raft replacement work.
