About this file
This document is a Task Group Instruction (TGI) for a Collection, Holding, and Transfer (CHT) Tank Aeration Upgrade on the USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), part of a Dry-Docking Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) maintenance project. The TGI details a comprehensive upgrade involving multiple system modifications, including structural work, sheet metal work, piping system modifications, valve replacements, electrical system changes, and foundation work across various ship compartments.
The project is scheduled from January 12, 2026, to May 15, 2027, to be performed at the Ship Repair Facility - Japan Regional Maintenance Center (SRF-JRMC) in Yokosuka. Key technical requirements include installing new low-pressure air valves, upgrading CHT tank aeration systems, modifying piping and electrical systems, and performing hydrostatic testing on multiple system components. The work involves precise engineering specifications, including cleanliness standards for piping systems, fire zone boundary considerations, and detailed testing protocols for valves, piping, and other mechanical components.
