About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) clarification document dated January 22, 2025, regarding Supply Chain Management for the F117 engine program. The document clarifies question #3 from a previous RFI, explaining that it pertains to new DER (Designated Engineering Representative) repairs not currently documented, and is intended as an information-sharing request rather than seeking OEM approval.
The government specifically notes that the RFI applies only to the current engine design and excludes new materials from the engine modernization program. The document includes two additional questions to industry: (1) requesting the current percentage of DER repairs being utilized for the PW2000 and anticipated future usage for F117 repairs, and (2) asking about measures taken to prevent material fallout from implemented DER repairs. This RFI clarification is part of a broader F117 Engine Sustainment Support program being managed by the Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Tinker Air Force Base.

Supply Chain Management RFI Clarifications- Response Requested 22 Jan 2025
1. Clarification of questions #3: In the event that data is limited to the government, DER repairs would continue to be authorized by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). What challenges does this present.
Clarification: This question pertains to new DER repairs that are not currently documented as having been previously performed. It is intended more as an information-sharing request rather than seeking OEM approval.
The government is clarifying that this RFI applies solely to the current engine design and does not encompass the integration of any new materials resulting from the engine modernization program.
Additional questions from Government to Industry:
1. What percentage of DER repairs are you currently utilizing for the repair of the PW2000? Additionally, what percentage do you anticipate being able to use in the future, should these DER repairs be approved for use on the F117?
2. What measures have been taken to prevent material fallout resulting from the DER repairs that have been implemented?
