About this file
This is a presentation template and guidance document for oral technical presentations required as part of the ARPA-H Small Business Program (SBIR/STTR) pre-award evaluation process. The template specifies strict presentation requirements: a maximum of 16 slides (excluding title slides), a 50-minute time limit with 20 minutes for presenter remarks and 30 minutes for Q&A and technical discussion, and in-person, hybrid, or virtual delivery format as determined by ARPA-H. The presentations will be evaluated against four primary criteria: Technical Merit, Technical Novelty, Team & Relevant Expertise, and Path to Impact and Health Outcomes.
The guidance document provides detailed slide composition recommendations across eight content areas: Technical Merit & Novelty (3 slides), Technical Risk & Mitigation Strategies (2 slides), Project Timeline (3 slides), Team (2 slides), Research Partner for STTR applicants only (up to 1 slide), Commercialization Plan (2 slides for Phase I, 3 slides for Phase II), High-Level Project Overview (1 slide), and a summary slide combining key project elements. Presenters must address ARPA-H's Heilmeier Questions covering the problem statement, current limitations, solution novelty, success factors, health outcomes, and equity considerations. Supporting documentation required includes a task description document (TDD), GANTT chart, and cost proposal. The template includes ARPA-H brand color specifications and formatting guidelines to ensure professional presentation standards.

How is it done today? What are the limitations of the current approaches?
What is new about your approach? Why do you think it will be successful?
Who cares? If you succeed, what difference will it make? What health outcomes are you accelerating?
To ensure equitable access to all people, how will cost, accessibility, and user experience be addressed?
Identify clear, measurable goals that meet or exceed the topic objectives highlighted in the BAA. Explain how the proposed solution (whether it’s a new solution or a technology that offers significant advantages or adaptions to existing solutions) is novel, innovative, highly ambitious, and not incremental or basic research. Include specification or performance metrics, as well as explain how the proposed solution aligns with the ARPA-H mission of funding transformative advancements and gaps that are not being funded by other government agencies or the private sector.
