About this file

This is a specifications document for aquatic pumps related to a pool facility renovation at Kennedy Memorial Park in the Incorporated Village of Hempstead, New York. The scope of work requires the contractor to furnish materials, labor, and equipment for the installation of centrifugal pumps including pool recirculation pumps, spray park recirculation pumps, feature recirculation pumps, motor and pump realignment, and operational verification. The project specifies five pump installations across multiple facilities: a competition pool (SPECK Model 100/250, 624 GPM, 65 feet head), a family pool (SPECK Model 65/250, 172 GPM, 75 feet head), a spray park main system (SPECK Model 100/250, 500 GPM, 40 feet head), a spray park major feature (SPECK Model 100/250, 516 GPM, 60 feet head), and a spray park minor feature (SPECK Model 100/250, 727 GPM, 45 feet head). All pumps must be NSF-listed with cast iron volutes rated for 175 PSIG, bronze impellers suitable for chlorinated water, and carbon/ceramic mechanical seals. Motors must be close-coupled, premium efficient, 208 volts, 60 Hertz, 3-phase units with minimum bearing life of 100,000 average B-10 hours and compliance with NEMA specifications.

The project requires five Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in NEMA 12 enclosures, manufactured by Horlick Co. Inc., with PWM output utilizing IGBT inverter technology. VFDs must include internal DC link reactors for harmonic distortion control, Automatic Energy Optimization and Automatic Motor Adaptation functions, and bypass capabilities with overload protection. All pumps must conform to ANSI/HI standards for centrifugal pumps and meet Nassau County Department of Health, New York State Swimming Pool Code, and New York State Sanitary Code requirements. Contractors must provide three copies of pump curves indicating operating points, voltage, and current draw, with one copy laminated and installed in the pump room. All pumps require factory testing and NSF Standard 50 listing. Pump manufacturers must be ISO-9001 certified. The specification document was issued July 2026 and includes requirements for proper product handling, crating, protective measures during transportation, and precise alignment verification post-installation using dial indicators to ensure runout does not exceed manufacturer recommendations.
