SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

AMENDMENT 0005

The following are questions received by this Agency and our answers:

1. Question: The Specification (PRF-SPEC-PMA260C/6247) jumps from paragraph 3.2.1.7 to 3.2.1.9, is this a typographical error, or is something missing that should be within 3.2.1.8?

Answer: There is no missing information, paragraph 3.2.1.8 was deleted from an early draft version of the performance specification but the paragraphs were not renumbered. To avoid confusion the Performance Specification will be revised to add the following:

3.2.1.8: Deleted.

2. Question: Specification Paragraph 3.2.1.2 Draw Bar Pull [SAH-FCN-0002] “The SAH shall provide no less than 14,100 lbs DBP on dry level concrete in both forward and reverse directions with a 17,300 lb load held by the lifting mechanism. Ship motion has already been accounted for in the Draw Bar Pull requirement.”

Is there a specific speed at which the drawbar pull test is to be performed in order to measure the 14,100 lbs DBP?

Answer: 14,100 lbs. DBP is the minimum required "breakaway" drawbar pull. This is measured with a static pull test and therefore the speed is zero.

3. Question: Specification Paragraph f. Jacks [SAH-REQ-0023] “(1) The SAH shall have at least four jacking points compatible with A-A-59545, Type II jacks. These points shall be on both ends of the unit and have chassis cutouts or features that provide a means for secure jacking aboard a moving ship.

(2) The SAH shall have at least four jack stand points that consist of chassis cutouts or pockets that are 6 inches square to accommodate ten ton jack stands and provide a means for secure support during ship motion. These points are to be independent from the jacking points and not impede access to components for maintenance actions.”

The above referenced text from PRF-SPEC-PMA260C/6247 states cutouts or pockets are needed for 10 ton capacity jack stands. Is there a reference specification and/or drawing for the jack stands?

Answer: There is no specification or drawing for the jack stands. As stated in performance specification paragraph 3.2.2.f.2, the four jack stand points shall consist of chassis cutouts or pockets that are 6 inches square. This will allow for compatibility with commercial 10 ton jack stands.
