SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

AMENDMENT 0003

The following are questions received by this Agency and our answers:

1. Reference is made to Specification paragraph 3.2.1.3 Lifting Capability [SAH-FCN-0003], b. Lifting/ Attachment Mechanism Dimensional Characteristics [SAH-REQ-0004], (6) “The lifting/attaching mechanism shall be able to lift the landing gear a minimum of 18 inches off the deck,” for the following questions:

Question: Could we please get further information on what speeds the SAH will be required to move in forward and reverse and turning while lifting the nose gear 18 inches off the ground?

Answer: The speed requirements found in paragraph 3.2.1.4 apply in all conditions, including when the SAH has lifted a landing gear 18 inches off the deck as described in paragraph 3.2.1.3.

Question: Could we please get further information of how far and the max distances the SAH will be required to move while lifting the nose gear 18inches off the ground?

Answer: As defined in paragraph 3.2.7.2.f, an aircraft move is defined as 250 feet, this is the maximum distance the SAH will be required to move while lifting a landing gear 18 inches off the deck.

Question: Could we please get further information on the weight of the nose gear and what aircraft will need to have the nose lifted 18inches off the ground?

Answer: As defined in paragraph 3.2.1.3.d, the SAH shall be able to hold a 17,300 lb. lifted load in all operating environments (starting, accelerating, stopping and all turns considering operational sea state conditions) with no loss of lifted height.

Question: Could we please get further information if the SAH will need to lift the nose 18 inches of the ground while the ship is pitching at 5 degrees or if at all?

Answer: As stated in paragraph 3.1, the SAH will experience up to 5 degrees pitch/roll in its operational environment, therefore the SAH will need to lift the nose 18 inches off the ground while the ship is pitching at 5 degrees.

2. Reference is made to Specification paragraph 3.2.4 Physical Characteristics, (a) Dimensions [SAH-REQ-0035], “The overall physical size of the SAH shall be limited to 148" L x 81"W and the height as described in the 3D model provided in Attachment (1). Attachment (1) does not address ground clearance. The length dimension limitation excludes the remote control and tow bar interface provision,” for the following questions:

Question: Could we please get further information on why the SAH must be 81 inches wide?

Answer: This width is the requirement to be able to pass through the maintenance shop door.

Question: Could we please get further information if the 81 inch requirement is flexible or fixed and if not a fixed requirement, what would be a max width the NAVY is able to accept?

Answer: The width of 81 inches is a firm requirement.
