PPI # Question Answer
29 Section C301001.3, Pool Finishes states "Provide a premium blend of crushed quartz, white cement and mineral based pigments for a high performance pool finish. Apply using methods and sequence selected to produce the most uniform finish. Include all manufacturer's standard color options. Rubber matting to wrap nosing of pool deck. Provide accent mosaic tile band below."
Please clarify how much tile is to be included in the mosaic tile band.
Extent of mosaic tile band is to be at the discretion of the Interior Designer, based on the specified mosaic tile size and design and layout of the pool.
30 Section C301001.3, Pool Finishes states "Provide a premium blend of crushed quartz, white cement and mineral based pigments for a high performance pool finish. Apply using methods and sequence selected to produce the most uniform finish. Include all manufacturer's standard color options. Rubber matting to wrap nosing of pool deck. Provide accent mosaic tile band below."
Please clarify if the markings in the floor (as well as the end wall targets) be required for each lane?
Part 6 ESR C304.004.3 Pool Finishes are modified to include marking requirements.
Refer to changes to the RFP provided with this amendment.
31 Section D209002, 1.4 Turnover/Filtration states "Filtration system shall be capable of filtering full pool volume turnover with 6 hours.
Package system is to include, but is not limited to, pool main drains, skimmer drains, overflow gutter system capable of handling displaced pool water, pump inlet strainer, sand filter, backwash tank, and pool water re-entry inlets. Pool system velocity shall be in accordance with International Pool and Spa Code. Sand filter shall be capable of filtering full flow of pool turnover pump. Emergency shut-off switch for recirculation and jet systems shall be located outside of pool equipment room. Filter backwash shall be filtered with sodium thiosulphate (chlorine neutralizer) dosing and shall discharge to sanitary via air gap. Pool drainage to site sanitary shall be in accordance with D. Lgs 152/06. Pool system shall be provided with make-up water connection with usage meter." Does the RFP give consideration to any national or local codes regarding turnover rate? If there are Italian national or local codes that request a turnover rate greater than 6 hours, will the D/B Team be required to meet these requirements?
Per Design and Construction Italian Compliance, found in Part 6, if there is a conflict between U.S. and Italian norms, the policy of USCMC is that Italian norms will be met.
32 Section D209002, 1.4 Turnover/Filtration states "Filtration system shall be capable of filtering full pool volume turnover with 6 hours.
Lgs 152/06. Pool system shall be provided with make-up water connection with usage meter." The RFP implies that both skimmers and an overflow gutter system will be included as part of the pool. Does the Government have a preferred solution?
There is no preferred solution per Government criteria.
33 Section D209002, 1.4 Turnover/Filtration states "Filtration system shall be capable of filtering full pool volume turnover with 6 hours.
Lgs 152/06. Pool system shall be provided with make-up water connection with usage meter." Due to the quantity of water as a result of the 20-meter pool depth, the recirculation rate will require a substantial amount of sand filter tanks, as well as a large volume of backwash water. Due to these considerations, we do not believe the total area allocated for pool mechanical equipment is sufficient when using hi-rate sand and the waste water from filtration will place a heavy burden to the ongoing operations. Has the Government given consideration to the use of regenerative media filters?
Section F1040001 is revised to a correct pool depth of 6 meters at the deepest point.
Refer to changes to the RFP provided with this amendment.
34 Section D209002, Pool Water Systems mentions " A central disinfection system shall be provided to monitor and automatically produce uv ozone treatment and dose the pool with chlorine. The pool monitoring system shall include, but is not limited to, uv ozone treatment, chlorination, chlorine neutralization, pH level control and total alkalinity control. Adjustments to pool pH shall be by the use of pressurized carbon dioxide or muriatic acid. Pool treatment and monitoring shall be connected to the building DDC system.
Provide all additional pool monitoring parameters as dictated in AFI48-114." The inclusion of chlorine, Ozone and UV would provide a level of redundancy that is not common. Can the Owner clarify if all systems are required as part of the project?
The Aviano Treatment Plant allowable biocides on base is
0. The Government's desired system is an ozone system with minor chlorine supplementation.
35 Section F1040001, Interior Swimming Pools states " Provide a six
(6) lane, 18.6 m wide x 25m long swimming and exercise pool for use in special training and regular physical training activities. Pool depth shall be 3m deep (10’) for the north 33% length, with a sharply sloped drop to 20m (65’) for the south 67% length across the full width. Standard public pool accessories are not required.
One ladder is required. Reference PART 6.3 DRAWINGS; b.
Architectural Sheet A-101)." The drawings that were supplied as part of the RFP indicate a pool width of 12.8 meters, which is different from the 18.6-meter width indicated in the written specifications. Please clarify the appropriate width of the pool.
Section F1040001 is revised to a correct pool depth of 6 meters at the deepest point.
Refer to changes to the RFP provided with this amendment.
36 Section F1040001, Interior Swimming Pools states " Provide a six
(6) lane, 18.6 m wide x 25m long swimming and exercise pool for use in special training and regular physical training activities. Pool depth shall be 3m deep (10’) for the north 33% length, with a sharply sloped drop to 20m (65’) for the south 67% length across the full width. Standard public pool accessories are not required.
One ladder is required. Reference PART 6.3 DRAWINGS; b.
Architectural Sheet A-101)." If a 18.6 meter wide pool is required, would the Government prefer to have 8 lanes in lieu of the specified 6 lanes?
