About this file
This amendment modifies a solicitation for Hurricane Florence Recovery Facilities at Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina. The scope of work includes replacement facilities for classrooms, bachelor enlisted quarters, CH-53K helicopter maintenance hangars, and C-12W aircraft maintenance hangars. The amendment extends the proposal due date to December 20, 2019, reduces the required font size in non-price proposals from 12-point to 10-point, clarifies that experience must be as a prime contractor, defines relevant experience as single facilities rather than complexes, and modifies experience requirements for construction and design of hangars.

13 2 Large Project

Please confirm this is meant for the Designer of Record and not the Offeror.

and of
Factor 2 - Experience, (1) Construction Experience, Aircraft Hangar and
(2) Design Experience, Aircraft Hangar
Based on the proposed P378 Type II Hangar project description, we believe that design and construction experience of large, multi-module hangars would be most relevant to this RFP. Historically, UFC 4-211-01 has defined the standard hangar bay module for a type II hangar to be 119’X325’. A typical two-module type II hangar would range in size from approximately 70,000 square feet but less than 100,000 square feet. In our experience, the design and construction of multi-module hangars in this size range involve the same scope/complexity as those above a 100,000 square feet threshold, especially in critical areas like architectural/structural design and construction, aviation-specific systems, including MEP, built-in equipment, bridge cranes, specialty hangar doors, etc.
To increase highly qualified competition, we respectfully request that the size requirement for hangar projects be reduced to 70,000 SF.
Bid per the RFP.
