About this file

This document provides details for a solicitation to dismantle, transport, and dispose of a Submarine Support Facility at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. The Navy seeks a contractor to demolish the radiologically controlled SSF using the "Rip and Ship" method, transporting approximately 1.6 million pounds of waste to an approved offsite disposal facility. The Navy will perform waste characterization and radiological surveys. Offerors must be qualified to transport and dispose of radioactive waste, and tour the SSF for proposals to be considered. The selected contractor will maintain accountability for materials during demolition and disposal. All personnel will be subject to Shipyard exposure monitoring. The Naval Sea Systems Command is the contracting agency.
