158584-21-002(A3)Work Item 584-21-002 (A3) “Stern Gate; repair and preserve”

Paragraph 3.7.1 states, “Remove existing and install new each hinge pin, grease fitting, hinge pad bushing and hinge blade bushing in accordance with 2.5.”

Paragraph 3.12 states, “Remove existing and install new stern gate gasket, using new hinge pins, grease fittings, and bushings fabricated in 3.6.1, using 2.2, 2.3, 2.5 and 2.9 for guidance.”

Paragraph 3.12.1 states, “Lubricate the hinge pins using existing lubricating system.”

Paragraph 3.12.2 states, “Adjust each dogging mechanism to ensure 100 percent contact with gasket to knife edge.”

Contractor notes that paragraphs 3.12.1 and 3.12.2 are out of sequence and that paragraph 3.12 is restating work completed in paragraph 3.7.1 and adding new stern gate rubber gasket work scope with incomplete guidance. The contractor recommends that:

Paragraph 3.12 be revised to state, “Remove existing and install new each stern gate rubber gasket, including each component gasket retainer and entire gasket mounting channel from each area in 1.3.1, using 2.2 for guidance and material.”

Paragraph 3.12.1 be re-sequenced to 3.7.1.1.

Paragraph 3.12.2 be re-sequenced to 3.7.1.2.

Question:

1) Will the specification be revised to implement the contractor’s recommendations?

Work Item 584-21-002 was revised in Errata 6 to remove the double coverage from para 3.12. The Contractor is authorized by NAVSEA SI's to work paragraphs out of sequence as they see fit.

Please contact Michael Ravnitzky, michael.ravnitzky@navy.mil, LT Michelle Wogu, michelle.wogu@navy.mil, and Martha Bello, martha.bello@navy.mil.

159 584-21-002(A3) Contractor recommends that the following revisions be made to correctly reference the directed work scope:

1) Revise paragraph 3.4.1 to state, “Submit one legible copy, in hard copy or electronic media, of a report listing results of the requirements of 3.4 to the SUPERVISOR.”

2) Revise paragraph 3.5 to state, “Vee-out and weld total of 10 square feet of deteriorated material and damaged welds found defective in 3.4.1, as designated by the SUPERVISOR, using 2.2 for guidance and material requirements.”

3) Revise paragraph 3.7 to state, “Accomplish repairs as reported in 3.1.1 and 3.4.1 and as designated by the SUPERVISOR; including replacement of hinge pins, bushings and line bore of hinge and blade pads using 2.2, 2.3 and 2.5 for guidance.”

4) Revise paragraph 3.13.1 to state, “Submit one legible copy, in hard copy or electronic media, of a report listing results of the requirements of 3.13 to the SUPERVISOR.”

5) Revise paragraph 3.14.2 to state, “Submit one legible copy, in hard copy or electronic media, a report listing results of the requirements of 3.14 and 3.14.1 to the SUPERVISOR.”

As written the work scope identified in paragraph 3.5 is unclear, is the intent to:

1) Vee-out and weld a total of 10 linear feet of damaged welds, Clad Weld 10 square feet of deteriorated material, or some combination of the two?

2) Will paragraph 3.5 be revised to clarify the customers intended repairs?

All changes have been incorperated in errata 6.

Please contact Michael Ravnitzky, michael.ravnitzky@navy.mil, LT Michelle Wogu, michelle.wogu@navy.mil, and Martha Bello, martha.bello@navy.mil.

160 572-11-001(E4) Work Item 572-11-001 (E4) “Dumbwaiter 600 Pound Capacity; repair and test” Paragraph 3.5 states, “Receive hoist drive motor of equipment listed in 1.3 provided as GFM, using Appendix A and paragraphs 6-6 of 2.2 for guidance.”

Paragraph 3.5.2 states, “Assemble the disc brake (Model Number 1-087-642-00-35lb-ft) to the motor using paragraph 6-3.2, Appendix A Page A-15 of 2.2 and 2.9 for guidance and material requirements.”

Paragraph 3.5.2.1 states, “Fit and install new the following parts provided as GFM listed in 5.1.”

Paragraph 3.10 states, “Assemble, fit and install new the following part provided as GFM listed in 5.1 for dumbwaiter assembly in accordance with 2.2:”

Contractors review of the specification and the material identified in paragraph 5.1 notes that:

There is NO material identified in paragraph 5.1 as Required for Paragraph No. 3.5, but paragraph 3.5 states that the hoist drive motor will be provided as GFM.

Question:

1) Contractor needs to clarify that the hoist drive motor identified in paragraph 3.5 will be provided as GFM?

2) Will the GFM list of paragraph 5.1 be updated to correctly identify all provided GFM?

Work Item 572-11-001 was revised via Errata 4 to address this.

Please contact Michael Ravnitzky, michael.ravnitzky@navy.mil, LT Michelle Wogu, michelle.wogu@navy.mil, and Martha Bello, martha.bello@navy.mil.
