Q1. Attachment J-2 SOW, 1.1 Background
a. Please provide an equipment schedule including weights and dimensions for the highlighted items related to the section “BSI materials that will require receipt and movement under this Subcontract. These items include transformers, electrical switch gear, air handlers, chillers, cooling tower components, and miscellaneous piping and electrical equipment.” This information is needed to determine required rigging combinations (i.e., sling capacity, shackles diameter/capacity, lifting lug requirement, spreader bars, machine skates or custom load equalizer beam requirements).
b. Will these items be transported via the provided carts and rail system, or will these items require custom rigging solutions outside of those outlined in this RFP document?
A1.
a. The materials list for the BSI items are not final, the submittals are not yet completed for that portion of the project. The BSI Project Management team has indicated that if the subcontractor is capable of management and handling of the steel beams of the cryostat, the physical capability to handle, manage and maneuver, along with the general tooling should be present to manage the BSI components.
b. No specialized rigging is anticipated to be required for movement of BSI materials. Existing carts and tuggers, rail carts, or other general materials handling equipment, including rigging, should satisfy needs for this BSI materials movement.
Q2. Will the overhead gantry beams located in the current BSI contract maintenance cavern be available at the time of FDC Bull Gang crew mobilization to be available for re-assembly tasks required to make ready the required equipment for the underground SOW tasks?
A2. No, the main BSI contract maintenance area will not be available for the assembly of the underground material handling equipment of the FDC Bull gang Subcontractor. Alternate space for machine assembly will be coordinated for this effort and communicated with subcontractor ahead of mobilization.
