Question No. 0016

REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION

SHIP & HULL No.: CGC SYCAMORE (WLB 209) FY11 DRYDOCK REPAIRS

RFP No.: HSCG85-11-R-P30FG6

SOLICITATION SECTION: PARA NO.

WORK ITEM NO. Various PARA NO.

TITLE: Anchor Chain

QUESTION:

Amendment nine creates two work items for the anchor chain:

o Original work item 21 requires preservation of 100% of the ground tackle o Clarification question 0012 discusses the removal of the anchor chain; not the preservation of the ground tackle o New work item 32, part of Amendment 9, requires the preservation of a total of eight shots of chain, plus blasting every 15th link of the remaining chain.

o

Please clarify what is required on which work item.

RESPONSE:

- 100% preservation of the ground tackle is covered in Work Item 21 Rev 1, supplied with Amendment 0013.

- 8 shots is correct, but blasting every 15th link of the remaining chain is obsolete with the blasting of Shots 3 through 8 in Work Item 21 Rev 1, supplied with Amendment 0013.

Accomplish the following editorial changes to Work Item 32, Rev 1:

Paragraph 3.2.2.1, eliminate the bullet starting with “10 links per shot, …” and ending with “see Table I below).”

Move the paragraph starting with the underscore title of “Touch-up preservation.” and ending with “…for Preservation of Ship Structures).” to fall immediately after the paragraph number 3.2.5. Paragraph 3.2.5 will be that paragraph of text.

Add the following paragraph:

“3.2.6.3 Inspection. Notify CG Inspector when coating is completed for inspection. Submit CFR.”

At paragraph 4.1, delete “with a length of 8 shots” and substitute “with a length of 10 shots”

Add the following paragraph:

“4.2 Coordination. Coordinate with Work Item 21: Rev1 Anchor, Anchor Chain and Ground Tackle, Preserve”
