About this file
This document provides an overview of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Preparedness Program. The Program engages partner nations to improve CBRN response capabilities at strategic, operational, and tactical levels. Standardized training and equipment are provided to address CBRN reconnaissance and detection, mass casualty decontamination, medical management of CBRN casualties, and emergency operations coordination. A sample training plan and timeline is outlined through 2025. Equipment kits detailed include CBRN reconnaissance, counter-improvised WMD, mass casualty decontamination, and personal protective equipment. The related federal contract opportunity notice announces an upcoming Industry Day on November 14, 2019 for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's Assessment, Exercise, and Modeling & Simulation Support contract, solicitation number HDTRA120R0006, to provide further details.

CBRN Preparedness Program (CP2)
UNCLASSIFIED
CBRN Preparedness Program Engages partner nations to support CWMD operations and to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate the effects of a CBRN incident Training and equipping (e.g., Detection,Location, Identification, Sampling Monitoring, Decontamination) Military and civilian organizations Tactical level response operations Operational level coordination and management (e.g., Emergency Operations Center) Strategic level planning and coordination (e.g., National Response Plans) Improves interoperability with U.S. forces and response assistance to partner nations
CP2 Strategy Whole-of-government approach Improves interoperability with U.S. forces and response assistance to partner nations Equipment Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures Use of various exercises to validate capability Use of internationally recognized best practices Standardized, modular “plug n play” curriculum

This is a sample of the types of training activities that CP2 uses to assist partner nations prepare to respond to disasters.
Through engagement, CP2 gains insight into increasingly efficient response procedures and increases the rate with which U.S. response forces can deliver assistance.
CP2 establishes mutually beneficial relationships with partner nations and facilitates regional cooperation on disaster response efforts.
