RFI206: The pump line sizes shown on schematic drawing C MJ 6 02 do not match the line sizes shown on drawing C MH 3 03 for the pump serving HRC -C1, C2. Which is correct?
Response206: 65mm as per CMJ602
RFI207: All end-suction pump scheduled are model “e1510” which are split-coupled end-suction pumps.
The hydronic pump specification only discusses “close-coupled, end-suction” pumps, which would be a model e1532. Which type of end-suction pump is preferred?
Response207: The desired model is e1510 as scheduled.
RFI208: PCHWP-C4,5 are scheduled as “Series 60” pumps which are split-coupled horizontal inline pumps.
There is no specification for “split-coupled inline” pumps. Is the Series 60 the desired pump and will a specification section be created for its inclusion?
Response208: The desired model is the model 60 as scheduled. A supplementary specification will be issued.
RFI209: Air Separators: The schedule shows R-4F for all 3 air separators. The schedule lists a size of 150 mm (6”), which would indicate model R-6F. Based upon the flow rates listed (18 LPS, 11 LPS, and 26 LPS), we would expect to use R-4F, R-5F, and R-5F respectively. Please confirm the size Rolairtrol desired.
Response209: R-4F, R-5F, and R-5F respectively is acceptable.
RFI210: Expansion tanks: The expansion tanks scheduled are compression tanks that are used with “the air control” strategy of air management, where the air separator sends air to the compression tank. The details are showing that the “Air Elimination” strategy is to be employed, where the air separators eliminate the air from system by an air vent. The “Air Elimination” strategy should result in a bladder or diaphragm tank selection. Please confirm.
Response210: Use Diagrpam Wessels Model # NTA 20. Diaphragm type expansion tank is listed in specifications. 232113-2.7-C
RFI211: Reference Drawing C MJ 6 06 – Detail 1 as it pertains to Fuel Oil Piping at underground fuel oil tanks. RFI214: Can you provide further clarification to Specification 011000, Section 1.3.C.1 regarding what the Government will contract separately and how the General Contractor and Electrical Subcontractors are to integrate, coordinate and define the scope we are to cover?
Response214: The design documents show the extent of all work to be performed by the General Contractor and subcontractors.
When other contracts are awarded by the Government for the systems identified in specification section 011000 Section 1.3.C.1, representatives from those contracted entities will participate in regular project meetings and will be required to coordinate with the GC and all subcontractors.
RFI215: Phase 1A is stating to relocate existing overhead utility power lines. This is bringing up several questions. Please read below. 1. Are these Overhead Power Lines Owned by National Grid? 2. If so who is responsible for contracting with the Utility? The General Contractor or GSA? 3. If GSA is responsible for contracting Electrical Utility, has coordination with the work associated with relocating the overhead power lines been finalized? This question is for scheduling reasons. 4. Have some or all of the these overhead power lines in Phase 1A been relocated already? 5. Who is responsible for contracting the Electrical Utility work for the remaining phases of construction (ie. primary cabling, medium voltage pad mount transformers, etc)?
Response215: 1. Yes, overhead power lines are owned by National Grid.
2. Contractor is responsible for contacting coordinating with the utility. See drawing G-CU-403 for contact information.

RFI222: Section 071328 Bentonite Waterproofing, please identify clearly the areas / buildings that are to receive under slab waterproofing. Para. 1.3.A.1 identifies one location. However para. 1.3.A.3simply states “beneath slabs on grade which can mean that this is to be done at every single building……some details however clearly indicate a vapor barrier to be installed on the under slabs only.
Response222: Install vapor barrier underneath slabs and at foundation walls (typical) except at conditions with hydrostatic pressure, where bentonite waterproofing or approved equal is required (including Commercial Building Basement slab and foundation walls).
RFI223: Is it acceptable to utilize sheet membrane waterproofing and blind side sheet membrane in lieu of the bentonite waterproof. Bentonite waterproof is very sensitive to inclement weather, product is no good if it gets wet before backfilling is completed. Substitute product would be Carlisle CCW860 or Miraply or Grace Bithuthene 3000.
Response223: Substitutions will be considered following the submittal procedure post bidding process.
For the purposes of bidding, use the details/products specified in the construction documents.
RFI224: Crystalline Waterproof, please clearly identify areas and specific locations that are to receive crystalline waterproof.

RFI226: Response 183 in Amendment #7 says that Door M167-3 is a FE/BR door. The door schedule does not show door M167-3 to be a FE/BR door. The Door Material column does show this to be a FE/BR door.
The details on sheet D AE591 for this door do not show a FE/BR door. Please advise if Door M167-3 is a FE/BR door and what details and door material are correct.
Response226: Correction - M167-3 is not FE/BR. Use Hardware Set 30.0. Refer to detail D3/DAE591 for header detail, C4 and D4-DAE591 for jamb details.
RFI227: Doors C100-1, M167-1, M167-2 show details B3, C1, E1/D-AE-622. These details are for a Forced Entry/Ballistic Resistant (FE/BR) door. The title of these details includes “1-HR FE/BR Glazing”. FE doors cannot be rated to 1 hour if they have glazing. Please advise what is the correct rating for these doors, e.g., 5 minutes or 15 minutes. These details also say “30mm security impact level III”. There is no “level III” for FE. Is this a reference to the BR rating of the glazing.
Response227: 1-HR rating is for fire. BR rating is UL572 Level 3. FE rating is 5 minutes.
RFI228: Please clarify the following: Hardware set 51.0 says that hardware is to be by the door supplier.
Please advise the following: · Is detention hardware required and · Is the lock mechanical or electric

RFI229: Will the owner accept having the Virtual Construction Coordinator conduct BIM team coordination meetings via a virtual web-based platform, in lieu of being on site? Are there local provider systems that can meet high-speed connectivity and bandwidth requirements to support BIM services?
Response229: In order to gain a comfort level with these meetings, the first two BIM oordination meetings must be held on site.
Further BIM Coordination meetings after may be held via a virtual web-based platform in lieu of being on site.
RFI230: To keep BIM deliverables up-to-date for the owner at closeout, is it acceptable to begin the project with the most current BIM platform versions and then do a yearly updates?
Response230: This is acceptable and must be documented and updated in the BEP as changes occur over the project lifecycle.
GSA reserves the right to approve or reject version changes. Due to extensive security and testing requirements and license costs, GSA may not have the most up-to-date version of software.
RFI231: It is taking a lot of extra time to complete the take off and we have been requesting an extension of 2 weeks in order to do it with accuracy and with a competitive pricing. Your consideration to this request would be greatly appreciated.
Response231: No bid extension will be considered at this time.
RFI232: Regarding the Non-Intrusive Inspection Building; Various drawings reference “East and West” plan views (i.e. N MH 1 00, N SB 1 01, N SF 1 11, N EL 1 00 and others). Drawing N MI 7 01 shows a snow melt system and an emergency exhaust system and indicate “Typical of 2”. Drawings G CU 1 41 and G CU 1 43 show a double bay building with a common wall. Other architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical drawings show a single bay building. Drawings H CP 1 03, H CP 1 11, H CP 1 12 and H CM 1 04 all show a single bay building. It appears that at one time a double bay building was planned and the final plan changed resulting in a single bay building but the old notes pertaining to a double bay building were not removed from some of the drawings. Please confirm that the requirement is now for a single bay building.
Response232: Correct - current design is for a single bay only.
RFI233: Can you please clarify what brand of gate operators you would like used for this project?
Hysecurtiy brand gates are called for in the schedule on G SS 6 01 and in detail H SS 2 02 however the spec 1112000 is calling for door king brand. Please clarify.
Response233: Refer to spec section 111233 for automated gates - spec lists gates to be HySecurity StrongArm brand or approved equal.
