RFI127: Please reference spec sections 230713 – Duct Insulations and 233113 – Metal Ducts. Section 233113 specifies two different types of duct liner (paragraph 2.3D – Fibrous-Glass Liner & paragraph 2.3E Flexible Elastomeric Duct Liner). Both the duct insulation specification and metal ducts specifications explain where to use the acoustic duct liner however there is no indication of which type of acoustic duct liner to utilize. Note that the flexible elastomeric duct liner is about 4 times the price and twice as difficult to install compared to the Fibrous-Glass liner. Please advise if the choice is up to the contractor or advise which type of duct liner we should use.

Response127: Fibrous-glass liner is acceptable.

RFI128: According to the Table of Contents they list two sections in Division 8: 084900 – Fire Rated Wall – Interior & 084913 – Fire Rated Wall Interior, but when you actual go into the sections, it only lists 084913

– Fire Rated Glass and Framing System (Exterior) on the first page on top but the bottom lists 084900 – Fire Rated Glass and Framing System for the footer, please clarify as to which one is correct and please fix the table of contents as well.

Response128: Section 084914 footer is incorrect but content of section is correct. Section footer is revised.

RFI129: I see a lot of spots that refer to steel items as “ galvanized stainless steel” or “galvanized S.S.“ -i.e. D1/MAE619, A1/MAE609 - obviously it can’t be both – please advise.

Response129: Price as Galvanized Steel.

RFI130: Screen fence details on HSS503 vary to same details on C3/DAE516 – bid per HSS503 I assume ?

Response130: Both details exist. Fence details on HSS503 applies to perf screen wall and screen gate at Impooundment Lot (Vol. 6 W-AE-101). Detail C3/D-AE-516 applies to Commercial Bldg Site Wall connected to building façade, as well as Outbound Inspection Site Wall.

RFI131: Dwg HSS503 calls out screen to be galv’d only – no mention of 3 coat paint over galv. Please confirm finish on screen steel

Response132: Include 3-coat paint over galvanized steel.

RFI132: Same for site wall steel

Response132: Include 3-coat paint over galvanized steel.

RFI133: Are the vertical S/S tubes to support the perf corr metal panels per B3/DAE516 to be designed, supplied & installed by panel manufacturer ?

Response133: Yes, S.S. tubes are part of panel manufacturer's scope.

Response143: Structural steel for the elevated parking structure is all exterior exposed steel. Finish shall be galvainzed with a three coat primer finish, color to be per Architect.

RFI144: · Drawing H CU I 13, at the upper right side of the drawing a duct-bank is shown being installed to an existing pole. Is the pole at the location where the duct-bank ends or some other location?

Response144: The duct bank is to end at an existing utility pole which is not shown on the plans. The pole is currently fed overhead and is approximately 60 meters from MH-110MV. There are no road crossings required between MH-110MV and the existing utility pole.

RFI145: · Drawings M EJ 6 01 & C EJ 6 01, regarding the primary service can you confirm that the cable form the pole to the transformer is provided, installed and terminated at both ends by the Utility company?

Response145: This was confirmed for the 2009 design. We have been unable to get an updated response from the utility company on the scope. We would assume the division of scope as shown on the drawing is still valid with the raceway furnished and installed by the Electrical Contractor.

RFI146: · Drawing M EP 1 02, between column lines ME & MF at the bottom of the page there is a paragraph identifying ug conduits, the message is not complete. Can you provide the complete message?

RFI147: Drawing C EJ 6 01, the feeder from SWB-CB to SLEEC Booth, who provides the 100AS safety switch & transformer T1? Does they get installed outside the booth?

Response147: 100 amp disconnect switch and transformers will be furnished and installed by the electrical contractor. Both the 100 amp disconnect switch and the transformer are installed outside the booth.

RFI148: The following is an RFI from one of the named manufacturers for the Aluminum Covers spec section 055901. The location of the handrail in proximity to the location of the covers. Hallsten is concerned that both of these items cannot be placed in the manner shown on the attached drawing section 5 and still be properly mounted to meet the design specifications of the project. Hallsten has offered two options on the attached detail as possible solutions. The attached section ED005 shows what would be needed for a Hallsten cover to be mounted to the inside face of the concrete.

Response148: Design revisions will be considered following the submittal procedure post bidding process. For the purposes of bidding, use the details/products specified in the construction documents.

RFI149: Reference Drawing No. P SF 113, Legend for Pre-Cast Double tees: Types A & B are noted as having a flange width of 2548 mm. Drawing D SJ 521, Detail 1 table shows types A & B to have flange width of 2438 mm. Please clarify the correct size and correct the applicable dimensions on the table if required.

Response149: Double Tee Types A and B shall be 2438mm.

RFI150: Please verify elevations provided in column schedule on MSJ601. The bottom of plate elevations of the columns shown to sit on footings show them to be at an equal or higher elevation as compared to the columns on piers. I looked at the foundation plans also and the depictions of columns on piers or footings seems to match the schedule on MSJ601. For example when I do the math for column grid M1.9 / MN. The column sits on footing F2 which is listed at 85.2m to bottom of footing. F2 is 510mm thick ( per schedule on DSJ502 ) plus 40mm of grout puts bottom of base plate at 85.75m, the schedule lists 85.95.

Column grid M1/MN shows a pier with elevation 85.8m. This is obviously lower than M1.9/MN. The slab on grade elevation is 86.15m. So the pier is at a lower elevation than the footing? The elevations are off one way or the other. I am unable to determine the elevations of the piers other than what is listed on the schedule on MSJ601.

Response150: For Typical interior footings top of footing shall be 355mm below top of slab and bottom of baseplate shall be 305mm below top of slab.

RFI151: There is a spec. for fume hoods but can’t seem to locate one, please advise.

Response151: Fume hood located in Commercial Bldg - Room C138 Incinerator Organic (C-AE-103, C-AE- 430)

Response163: Please disregard reference to Progressive Collapse. It is no longer in the design.

RFI164: Reference Specification 034100. 2.10 E. Please identify the exterior precast components on the parking structure that require architectural finish.

Response164: These have been removed from the project. See revised spec section 034100 (provided in Amendment 0006).

RFI165: Reference Section A1/CAE 351. The wall section depicted uses an EWS2-3 (insulated metal panel/perforated corrugated screen) cladding system. Detail reference A1/DAE 551 noted at the base of the wall employs an EWS3 (precast panel) cladding system. Please clarify.

Response165: Please refer to B3/D-AE-541 instead.

RFI166: Please define the required thickness for the precast sill/coping for the EWS3 architectural precast wall system.

Response166: 70mm from top of precast coping to centerline of joint.

RFI167: Regarding the aforementioned precast coping, what is the required spacing of the dowel pins and is it intended that the support angle is to be continuous or intermittent short pieces at certain spacing? (Ref. Detail B2/DAE/521).

Response167: Final support method is per precast contractor.

RFI168: Commercial building and main building: - In regards to the cabinets that are indicated to be finished plastic laminate PL-1 there is a big confusion: The elevations indicate PL-1 which is described as plastic laminate (usually this is 1/16" thk.). As a typical example see cabinets on page C AE 659. But the typical details B3, B4/D AE 671 show 1/4" solid surface finish applied on the doors and drawer faces. It is very important to clarify this because it applies to a lot of cabinetry. The difference in price would be very significant if all those cabinet doors and drawer faces have to be covered with 1/4" solid surface.

Response168: Cabinet doors and drawer faces to be finished with plastic laminate. Only countertops are to be finished with solid surface. See revised D-AE-671 in Amendment 6.

RFI169: On dwg. G LP 411 what is the dimension between supports shown on detail 2?. Note 7 mentions 2 x 12’s as beam carriers, none are shown on the dwgs.

Response169: On Detail 2, dimension between joists is 400mm, dimension between beam carriers is 2.44m max. As shown in Detail 2 and Detail 4, beam carriers shall be 50mmx255mm (2"x10").
