About this file
This document summarizes geotechnical exploration logs for a proposed Arkansas Valley Conduit injection site. The logs document soil borings and monitoring well installations conducted by the Bureau of Reclamation at six locations along Highway 96 near Avondale, Colorado between February and March 2023. The borings encountered native alluvial soils including clays, silts, sands and gravels to depths between 9-42 feet below ground surface. One boring was extended to 53 feet and cored through Cretaceous Pierre Shale bedrock. Logs document soil stratigraphy and properties, depth to groundwater, standard penetration testing results, and laboratory soil classification data. Monitoring wells were installed at five locations to specified design standards for future geotechnical monitoring.
