FLAGPOLE LIGHTING
Description. Item is to provide solar powered lighting to illuminated flags 24 hours a day.
Materials. Solar Powered Flagpole Light Kit shall have a minimum rated brightness of 300 Lumen. The illuminations provided is to have a total beam angle of 36°. Multiple beams may be used if a single beam cannot provide sufficient beam angle to light up a 6-foot flag on a 20-foot pole. The light beams are to be white LED. Lights shall be controlled with a photoelectric cell.
Power is to be provide by rechargeable battery and solar panel. The battery shall be a minimum size of 12,000 mAh rechargeable and provide a run minimum run time of 10 hours. The solar panel shall be sized to recharge the battery.
Each light kit is to be mounted on the flagpole by clamping or other mechanical methods approved by the Owner. Other locations for mounting may be acceptable with approval from the Owner. Any additional materials needed for mounting that is not on the flagpole such as additional wire, conduit, and mounting devices and hardware will be at no additional cost to the owner.
All provided electrical equipment shall be a minimum rated of IP65 to provide protection against dust intrusion and the direct spray of water.
Construction. A light kit shall be furnished for each flagpole. The kit is to be mounted on the pole no more than 2-foot above the pole’s foundation. The light(s) are to be aimed to provide illumination on the flagpole and the flag. The solar panel is to be aimed south at a 29.5° tilt.
If a mounting location other than the flagpole is used, then any conduit and wire that may be used must be buried a minimum of 18 inches below ground level.
Basis of Payment. Solar Powered Flagpole Light Kit will not be paid for separately but shall be included in the unit price for providing a flag pole. All equipment, tools, labor, and incidentals necessary to mount, aim, wire, and otherwise install the light kits will be include in that price.
