Notes:
1.
Systems Malfunction Review topics vary by quarter. Each quarter a different hour of academics is provided and is focused on that quarter’s malfunction review; Propulsion, Hydraulic, Electrical, and Miscellaneous. The academics taught in a particular quarter will correlate with the Day 1 WST-01 event for that quarter.
2. Airdrop Malfunction Review will be accomplished by airdrop qualified crewmembers once per year and in conjunction with the Day 2 or Day 3 airdrop WST profile. It is the responsibility of the crew member to notify the instructor if they require Airdrop Malfunction Review training during the quarterly training period.
3. Crew Resource Management and Command Requirement academics will be accomplished by qualified crewmembers once per year. It is the responsibility of the crew member to notify the instructor if they require CRM training during the quarterly training period.

Notes:
1.
Support hours include prebrief and debrief.
2. Academics Hours vary depending on the needs of the crew. A minimum of 10.0 hours is required. Additional hours include a CRM academic lesson and an Airdrop Emergency Procedures academic lesson (airdrop crews only). These lessons are only required once per CY and the crew is responsible for notifying the instructor on Day 1 that this training is needed.
3 The academic phase consists of airplane systems, normal procedures, nonstandard / emergency procedures, performance, and crew resource management.
4. The weapon system trainer (WST) phase consists of three WST missions. Students may be assigned additional simulator training if necessary. The WST mission is devoted to practicing emergency procedures and enhancement of mission accomplishment skills. The WST training mission includes pre-brief, WST time and performance debriefing.
b.
Minimum Hour Requirement — There are no minimum hour requirements for completion.
c.
Instructor Responsibilities — Instructors are responsible for training accomplishment; however, crews should monitor their own training. Instructors should coordinate the Day 2 and Day 3 training plan with the crew on Day 1. The crew is responsible for determining the profiles for Day 2 and Day 3 WST missions.
2.
Flying Safety and Operational Risk Management (ORM) — Reinforce flying safety awareness and ORM by emphasizing the principles of risk management IAW AFI 90-901. Before accomplishing WST flying events, all crewmembers will be briefed on mission-forecast weather, OPS notes, FCIF topics, NOTAMs and other pertinent information.
3.
Cockpit / Crew Resource Management (CRM) — CRM skills will be emphasized throughout the training, and the MOST mission will be debriefed IAW AFI 11-290, Cockpit / Crew Resource Management Training Program. Use of AF Form 4031 is encouraged to facilitate this debriefing.
4.
Simulator Mission Taxonomy—Refresher training design assumes attending aviators are current and qualified in the aircraft. This is neither conversion nor initial qualification training. Lesson objectives for simulator missions are written to the “perform” evaluation criteria. The primary objectives for instructors of refresher are to review, refresh, and improve the performance of the aviators attending the course. Toward these objectives, instructors have the latitude to induce behaviors / attitudes in the crew which result in decision-making outcomes. This latitude can be used to increase or decrease the intensity of the mission (depending on aircrew experience) or shorten/lengthen the remainder of a mission (dependent on previous mission pacing.)
Briefing Requirements — Briefings set the tone of the mission. Briefing times will be established by the instructor for training device missions. Briefing items should be the minimum established in the mission briefing guide.
6.
Debriefing Requirements - Accomplish a post mission briefing to measure the success of each mission. Use of the Computer Aided Assessment System (CAAS) is encouraged for experiential training.

Notes:
1. IBT based Systems Malfunction Review varies by CY quarter. For example, if the training occurs on 15 Feb, the Propulsion Systems Malfunction Review will be taught.
2. If a crewmember requires annual Crew Resource Management training, they will notify the instructor on Day 1 of Training and select a CRM based mission on either Day 2 or Day 3. The instructor and the crew will arrange to complete 40_0_010_02 CRM Continuation Training academics the day of the CRM WST event. This may or may not be indicated on the instructor or crew schedule.
3. If a crew is airdrop qualified and has not accomplished 35_0_810_02 Airdrop Emergency Procedures Review training for the CY, the crew should accomplish this training in conjunction with an airdrop WST event on Day 2 or Day 3 of training. The crew will notify the instructor on Day 1 if an airdrop event is desired on either Day 2 or Day 3. The instructor and the crew will arrange to complete 35_0_810_02 Airdrop Emergency Procedures Review academics the day of the airdrop WST event. This may or may not be indicated on the instructor or crew schedule.
Section B - Course Reviews and Exams None Chapter 4

Notes:
1. The “1, 2, or 3” in each mission title denotes the applicable training year. “1” missions are taught in CYs 10, 13, and 16. “2” missions are taught in CYs 11, 14, and 17. “3” missions are taught in CYs 12, 15, 18.
2. Training on WST-01/WST-02 missions is focused on both mission accomplishment and CRM skills. Any of these missions (except the Crew Developed and Directed Mission) may be used to satisfy “CRM Simulator” (G-240).
3. WST-01/WST-02 profiles are at the discretion of the crew and are intended to accomplish unit training and/or semi-annual training events. The crew will coordinate with the instructor on Day 1 which missions are desired on Days 2 and 3. Classified training missions must be coordinated with the JMATS site security manager the week prior.
4. Crew Developed and Directed Missions are non-scripted missions that the crew design and mission plan. The instructor will act as all controlling agencies, operate the WST, and provide instruction tips if requested; but, the plan, pacing, training events, etc. are all developed and determined by the crew. These missions emulate unit aircraft flying training events (either local area or off-station).
5. If the lesson objectives are completed prior to the expiration of scheduled device time, additional time may be spent on additional training at the discretion of the instructor.
6. The instructor-to-student ratio is 1-to-1.
Section B - MOST Concept Mission Oriented Simulator Training (MOST) is the application of mission simulation to aircrew training programs. “CRM Simulator” (G-240) will be credited for missions that provide practical application of classroom-presented CRM refresher academics. MOST requires crewmembers to behave realistically as an individual, and as a member of the crew. Instructors will not interact with the crew in the traditional “teacher” sense; they facilitate the mission through the roles of virtual crewmembers and support agencies outside the “aircraft.” Instructor actions such as “flight freeze” or “slew” are not used as they interrupt a crew’s perception of reality.
The mission will create real-world mission developments unfolding in real time. The consequences of individual and crew actions will accrue, and realistically impact the remainder of the mission. Once “problems” are introduced into the mission, they will remain as part of mission evaluation by the crew; there are no “simulated fixed” retractions.
Challenges introduced to the crew will often have no single acceptable solution; handling them is a matter of judgment. Accomplishing the briefed mission is not the true objective of MOST. Realistic missions terminate upon reaching a logical conclusion. The decisions made by the crew, and their effect upon mission accomplishment, will be debriefed thoroughly to provide experiential training for improvement of CRM skills.
Chapter 5
General Instructions Section A - Course Prerequisites While lessons will normally be taught in the sequence listed, it may be necessary to deviate from this flow due to device availability or other unforeseen circumstances.
Section B - Syllabus Flow The syllabus flow sequence may be modified at the discretion of the site manager to maximize training efficiency.
