Text version
ISC Problem The ICBM SPO has determined that the condition of the solid stages justifies replacement of stages I, II and III. USSTRATCOM and AF Global Strike command have established that with the need to replace the solid rocket motors, this is the time to obtain more advanced technology in the rocket motors and increase MMIII range by 15-20%. As the ISC, the ICBM SPO has asked you to perform a quick assessment of factors to consider in the motor replacement and how it may affect the reliability, accuracy, nuclear hardness and safety & surety of the weapon system. Numerical analysis is not required at this time, but rather a qualitative analysis that will be used to form requirements for more detailed study of the requirements for the rocket motors and their affects on the other subsystems and weapon system capabilities. What specific issues should be considered for the requirements for new stages themselves? How might the new stages affect the guidance, reentry and ground systems? Please keep your answers unclassified, but provide sufficient detail to demonstrate your understanding of the limitations and interrelationships of ICBM subsystems and their affect on weapon system capabilities.
