Renovate Chapel Kitchen Questions and Answers

Q1: Is there a conflict of interest to use the 35% A/E team to complete the design portion of the contract? If so, will AutoCAD files for the 35% be made available to the awarded contractor/design team for use in developing the remainder of the design submittals?
A1: There is no conflict of interest to use the 35% A&E contractor. The 35% AutoCAD drawings will be made available.
Q2: There is no mention of asbestos in the existing VCT flooring or mastic in the documents available on FBO.
Is there an asbestos/hazardous materials report available?
A2: See attached report in Amendment 002.
Q3: If there is asbestos in the existing flooring, it an acceptable approach to install the floating LVT flooring over the existing to encapsulate the asbestos?
A3: It is MHAFB policy to abate known ACM during the course of a project.
Q4: Are there existing site utility plans available for reference?
A4: See attached plans in Amendment 002.
Q5: The new water line will most likely require substantial excavation and severe disturbance of the roots within driplines for several mature trees, causing decline or death of the trees over time. Would it be an acceptable approach to propose to remove the existing trees in conflict and replacing with new parking lot trees?
A5: MHAFB will accept liability for the trees survival. Route excavations to minimize impact to the extent practical.
Q6: Are there utility maps that can be made available on FBO?
A6: See attached plans in Amendment 002.
Q7: The Statement of Work does not indicate work hours/days are there any restrictions?
A7: The expectation is for normal work hours, (0730-1630) Monday through Friday, Federal holidays are observed by MHAFB.
Q8: Is the existing subfloor of the multi-purpose room concrete or wood decking? If wood, what thickness?
A8: The floor is believed to be concrete.
Q9: On drawing F-101. Under the part Fire Alarm System. It states that a Voice Evac required. Is Voice Evac requited to be installed in just the area of the renovation or the entire building? If yes will there be an issue with conflicting signals? Meaning, horn strobe’s going off at the same time as the voice evacuation system.
A9: Disregard requirement for Voice Evac; match existing horn/strobes
Q10: On Drawing F-101. Under the Code Approach item B. Will this project meet the threshold of requiring the
Antiterrorism requirements?
A10: The 50% threshold should not be exceeded by this relatively small-scale project.
Q11: On drawing F-101. Since no information is provided about what the occupancy is. Will Mass Notification be required? If yes is it only required in the renovation area or the entire building?
A11: Mass notification will not be required.
Q12: In the Scope Of Work (SOW). Item 2. H.2) Design/install manual pull stations at each exit as required by code. All the pull stations in the building do not currently meet code. Are we required to go back through the entire building and bring all pull stations up to code or just this that are in the restoration area?
A12: Only areas affected by this project will be brought in to compliance.
Q13: On drawing F-001. Note Fire Alarm Demolition Notes: #5. We are required to work around the owner’s schedule. What is the schedule we will have to work around?
A13: Weekend work should be avoided. Chapel activities generally should not impact scheduling.
