INDUSTRY QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES
REMOTELY PILOTED AIRCRAFT (RPA)
SOLICITATION FA4890-16-R-0032
POSTED: 4 APR 2017
Concern: Request verification of the definition of a "Combat Line" referenced in section 4.13. The referenced section indicates that a "Combat Line" is defined as: "The total effort (personnel, aircraft, equipment, etc.)
required to generate and sustain a combat-capable aircraft on station (over target or area to be surveilled), 24 hours a day, continuously as dictated by mission requirements."
Question: In developing the response to the solicitation, this definition has been interpreted by experienced personnel to mean that a combat line is a single tasked RPA sortie (i.e.; take off and landing) for an operational mission. Please verify that the intended definition is that a "Combat Line" may include one or more RPA sorties that are required to provide 24 hour coverage over a surveillance area. Or, please indicate if the intent is a single sortie (take-off and recovery) on an operational mission.
RESPONSE: Yes, a "Combat Line" may include one or more RPA sorties that are required to provide 24 hour coverage over a surveillance area.
