Figure 8. F.S. 284.0 Bolt Serialization Template
IF THE F.S. 284.0 SPLICE BOLT P/N 84492-10-24 DOES NOT
HAVE A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER LOCATED ON THE
HEAD OF THE BOLT, A SERIAL NUMBER SHALL BE
ENGRAVED PER THE FOLLOWING BEFORE INSTALLING
BOLT: ENGRAVE A SERIAL NUMBER ON THE BOLT HEAD
IN THE LOCATION SHOWN IN FIGURE 8 BELOW. THE
SERIAL NUMBER WILL CONSIST OF A TWO LETTER
DESIGNATION FOR THE CURRENT AIRCRAFT BASE
LOCATION, FOLLOWED BY A 4-DIGIT NUMERIC NUMBER.
PREFIX THE SERIAL NUMBER WITH A MARKING OF “S/N”.
THE FIRST NUMERIC NUMBER USED AT EACH BASE
SHOULD BE 0001, AND IT WILL BE SEQUENTIALLY
INCREMENTED ON ALL ADDITIONAL NON-SERIALIZED
BOLTS BEFORE INSTALLATION. ODD NUMBERED BOLTS
ON THE LEFT SIDE OF AIRCRAFT, EVEN NUMBERED
BOLTS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF AIRCRAFT. EXAMPLE:
BOLTS INSTALLED FOR RANDOLPH AFB, THE MARKINGS
FOR THE FIRST BOLT INSTALLED WILL BE S/N:RA0001
AND THE SECOND WILL BE S/N:RA0002, ETC
