About this file
This document contains technical specification sections for the Stennis Hall Renovation project at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. The specifications cover gypsum board installation (Section 09 29 00), paints and coatings (Section 09 90 00), unit masonry (Section 04 20 00), and related finishes and structural work.
The gypsum board specification requires mold-resistant Type X gypsum board at 5/8 inch thickness for all interior areas, with recycled paper facings. Materials must be asbestos-free, and installation must comply with ASTM C 840 and GA 216 standards. Finishing requirements range from Level 1 (plenum areas) to Level 5 (general walls and ceilings), with specific finishing protocols for various surface conditions. The paints and coatings specification mandates use of MPI-approved products with environmentally friendly ratings (minimum E3), restricted lead and chromate content, and compliance with SSPC and ASTM standards. Specific coating systems are prescribed for different substrates including exterior metal (waterborne light industrial systems), interior concrete masonry (latex block fillers with institutional low-odor latex), interior metal (high-performance architectural latex), and gypsum board (institutional low-odor or epoxy systems depending on application). The unit masonry specification requires concrete masonry units (CMU) conforming to ASTM C 90 and C 129 standards with specified compressive strength of 2000 psi, Type N or S mortar for non-load-bearing interior masonry, and ASTM C 476 grout with minimum 2000 psi strength. All materials must be tested and certified for compliance, with field testing required during construction for mortar and grout quality control.
