SOO Version – 13 May 2015 1 04 August 2016
STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVE
Project Title: Construct Fire Doors, B270 1st Floor GCC Kitchen Area Project Number: ACJP161091 Work Order Number: 61304 Date: 04 August 2016 Revision Number: 0
1. SITUATION/EXISTING CONDITION:
When partitioned, the Gordon Conference Center (GCC) poses concerns during emergency evacuation.
North side EXIT door for GCC directs occupants to a fully-contained and fire-rated corridor leading to building exterior. The south side EXIT door however does not have the same properties; EXIT signs in both cooking and serving sections in kitchen direct personnel to the very same non-fire-rated corridor.
While addressing the issues this construction project is not intended to fully correct the concern, instead, it is intended for steps taken to mitigate the deficiency by installing double-door assembly along the hallway and retain the doors in open position during normal operation, using electrified ‘hold buttons’. Under emergency situations the hold buttons would be released by pulling the nearest pull-station and direct the GCC personnel to north side EXIT along the main kitchen corridor for exiting the building. By removing and re-assigning new EXIT signs, kitchen personnel will use alternate path of egress to EXIT building.
