The specifications for acceptable units by required features and accessories as outlined below.
Parts and services for the equipment should be readily available within the State of Illinois.
Unless otherwise specified, the proposed equipment shall be complete in all parts and ready for immediate use upon delivery.
Make:
Model:
Manufacturer:
The State reserves the right to waive minor informalities, deficiencies, or technical variances which by their nature are restrictive to a given manufacturer, if in its’ judgement, it would be in the best interest of the State.
The unit shall include the following standard or optional accessories and equipment.
Working Area:
The unit shall be capable of working a minimum of 1,240 square feet.
Boom design shall contain supports (arms) capable of operating and supporting the aggregate hose(s) in a safe manner with minimal exertion from the operator.
Operator controls shall be boom mounted to contain asphalt, aggregate, throttle, hydraulic, and horn controls.
The Operating position shall be approximately (four) 4 feet from the material discharge and designed to eliminate material over spray from contacting the operator.
Discharge Nozzle and Coating System:
Asphalt spray shall be capable of a 100% coating of the aggregate prior to discharge.
Unit must be capable of placing up to 3.5 tons of patching material per hour.
The end of the nozzle shall be fitted with an operator controlled, electrically powered heating element to prevent clogging at the nozzle during periods of not being in use.
Tanks:
Shall have a minimum of 250 gallons pressurized (ASME Code Vessel) and completely insulated emulsion tank with safety pressure relief valve.
Emulsion tank shall be tested to 300 PSI with a ASME code approved working pressure of 200 PSI.
Emulsion storage tank shall have minimum RValue 15 insulation, waterproof and fire retardant. If optional increased R value insulation is available, it shall be included.
Heat exchanger(s) must keep emulsion tank, emulsion line and nozzle at an average temperature of 140°F for patching, even in cold weather use down to 20ºF.
Heating element(s) shall not be in direct contact with emulsion to allow for heating element removal without draining tank and prevent charring of asphalt.
ASME pressurized flush tank with relief valve and drain, approximately 15 gallons.
An approximately (eight) 8-gallon cleanout holding tank with drain.
Emulsion tank and lines shall be heated with fluid circulated directly from diesel engine.
Emulsion tank shall provide for overnight 110-volt electrical heating. If external extension cord or timer is required, it shall be included.
Emulsion tank shall have an easy access lid for loading and a minimum (two) 2-inch bottom discharge gate for clean out.
Emulsion tank shall feature a sight gauge displaying tank contents in ¼ increments from empty to full.
Unit shall come equipped with a 25-foot emulsion hose on retractable reel, (four) 4-foot hand wand with ball and socket plate for crack filling.
Hoses:
Aggregate hose shall be made of materials that resist curling and twisting with reinforced rubber lining.
All pressure hoses shall have high-pressure fittings and rated for maximum output of system.
Compressor:
Unit shall have a working minimum 13.2 CFM, direct drive with governed regulator control and capabilities to piggyback a hydraulic pump.
Operating pressure 100-150 PSI.
Aggregate Delivery System:
Unit shall have a pneumatic venturi eductor that conveys aggregate from hopper, through emulsion spray bath and out the nozzle with no moving parts.
Aggregate hopper shall be bolt on. Able to be replaced in the event of damage from large debris.
Aggregate flow shall be regulated by air actuated slide plate.
Aggregate flow controls shall be located on articulating operator’s boom for fingertip operation.
The top of the aggregate hopper shall be a maximum 36”, measured off the ground with the unit sitting level.
Tailgate Feed:
Unit shall come equipped with gravity trough or auger feeder design to adapt to typical dump truck slip-gate that includes a tapered type trough to feed aggregate directly from tailgate to aggregate hopper.
Blower:
Blower shall be a high volume, direct drive 450 CFM or larger lobe blower.
Blower shall be equipped with heavy duty silencer.
Engine:
The engine shall be current production:
· Liquid cooled diesel
· Tier 4F emissions or current emissions standards for engine provided.
· Approximately 74 HP.
· Includes Engine hour meter
· Wet sleeve design preferred if available.
Engine controls shall be conveniently mounted for easy operation.
Unit shall have approximately 22-gallon fuel tank. Clearly marked “Diesel Fuel Only”.
Note: If equipped with DEF tank it shall be clearly labeled as such.
