About this file
L10 Engineering Test Matrix (ETM) Documentation
This document is an Engineering Test Matrix template used to establish testing and qualification requirements for spacecraft hardware and systems. The file consists of two primary sections: a general ETM matrix and a propulsion-specific ETM matrix, both designed to define testing strategies across multiple disciplines including structural/mechanical, electrical, EMI/EMC, and thermal categories.
The L10 ETM - General matrix applies to major hardware components including the Observatory, SC Bus, Primary Structure, and Modular Propulsion System, with designations for First Article and Subsequent articles. Testing categories encompass a comprehensive range of analyses and qualifications: mass survey, static load testing, sine/random vibration, acoustic testing, mechanical shock, pressure profile validation, mechanical function testing, deployment testing, torque verification, life testing, and mass properties assessment. Electrical testing includes inrush current, power quality/profile, RF self-compatibility, EMI/EMC compatibility, and thermal-vacuum and thermal-cycle qualification. The matrix employs standardized abbreviations to denote testing approaches: "Q" for Qualification Test Levels, "PF" for Proto-flight Test Levels, "AT" for Acceptance Test Levels, "QS" for Qualification by Similarity, "M" for measured results, "T" for planned tests without standard designation, "LT" for Life Test duration, "AN" for Analysis, and specialized codes for deployment, functional, and bakeout testing. The L10 ETM - Propulsion section similarly applies qualification requirements to propulsion subsystem components including Tank Subsystem, Feed System, Thrusters, Valves, Pressurization System, Propellant Management, Thermal Control, and Tank Valves, using the same test designation methodology across mechanical, electrical, and thermal verification domains.
