MOP Details Detailed Procedure

Initial Conditions:

1. Fire Pump controller is monitored by the Fire Alarm system which is monitored by the Remote Operations Center.

1a. Prior to the start of any Fire Pump TEST or Service the Fire Alarm system needs to be called into TEST mode. Please see attached M.O.P. for contact info for that procedure.

Expected /Nominal Performed

Operation

Test Procedure:

1. After receiving confirmation from the VA that the Fire Alarm system is in TEST mode, CLOSE the (2) OS&Y Gate Valves directly behind the Fire Pump

Controllers. This will isolate the CEP standpipes from the Fire Pump pressure during testing. See marked-up Isometric for reference.

2. OPEN Control Valves at the 8in. Main Return pipe to the Fire Water Tank. This will assure water returns to the Fire Water Tank during Fire Pump Testing. See attached Isometric drawing for reference.

No other valves need be cycled for testing.

3. To initiate Fire Pump test, press the “TEST” button on Fire Pump Controller

“FP-1” and allow timed test to complete.

Once complete, press the “TEST” button on Fire Pump Controller “FP-2” and allow timed test to complete.

TEST IS COMPLETE. MOVE ON TO BACK OUT PROCEDURE.

Rev 1.0

Back-out Procedure

1. CLOSE Control Valves at the 8in. Main Return pipe to the Fire Water Tank.

This will assure that after testing Fire Pump discharge water does NOT go to the tank.

Check

2. OPEN the (2) OS&Y Gate Valves directly behind the Fire Pump Controllers.

This will OPEN the CEP standpipes back up to the Fire Pump pressure after testing.

3. Call VA contact and report Fire Pump testing has completed and ask the Fire Alarm system be taken out of TEST mode.

NOTE: If the above described valves are NOT returned to their original positions the Fire Alarm system will immediately report a supervisory condition on the Tamper Switches related to those valves. So it is important to verify. There is a chain hung sign on each valve noting the original intended valve position.
