INVITATION TO BID #2024-103
SE Monroe Street Improvements (“BID”)
RESPONSE TO CLARIFYING QUESTIONS #3
November 13, 2024
Note that these are questions submitted by interested firms to the above referenced solicitation.
The below answers are for clarification purposes only and in no way alter or amend the BID as published.
1. The intersection of SE Monroe and SE Linwood will have electrical work including the wiring, Pedestal, J-boxes ect. - outside of this intersection, the scope shown in the plans for electrical includes trenching, conduit, junction boxes and Pull tape - please confirm there are no conductors outside of the intersection mentioned above. Assumed PGE will be pulling all wire and installing all light poles.
Answer: Electrical work required at Linwood Ave intersection is for installation of RRFB. Electrical work required for new street lights shown on sheets 13.4 and 13.5.
PGE to pull wires and install lighting fixture on contractor installed foundation for new street lights. All other street lights in project limits will be installed by PGE on wood poles. Refer to Sheet 13.0 General Notes for explanation of PGE work vs Contractor work as well as Special Provisions 00970.
2. HDD is noted on Sheet 13.4 pointing to electrical conduit and is not in the Legend - what does "HDD" denote?
Answer: HDD denotes “Install Conduit by Horizontal Directional Drilling”.
3. Per the special provisions 00220.40E work times end at 8:00PM, can local traffic be ran on aggregate until the following morning?
Answer: In work areas not part of an approved road closure, temporary asphalt (cold or hot mix) will be in place overnight in all locations that are not subject to local access only.
4. Section (5) - if a closure is applied for - can it extend overnight (excluding local traffic)?
Answer: Approved road closures may include non-work hours (nights and weekends).
The road will need to remain traversable for local and emergency traffic (i.e. trenches must be filled or plated), but will not require asphalt resurfacing during the closure.
Note, the Monroe West road closure identified in 00220.40(e)(5), bullet 3, will not be allowed concurrently with the 60-day roundabout closure described in 00220.40(e)(5), bullet 5 as Monroe West is part of the detour route for the roundabout closure.
