About this file
This is a specifications document detailing requirements for the GVIC Fish Screen Rehabilitation project located in Mesa County south of downtown Palisade, Colorado. The work involves rehabilitating an existing fish screen facility directly downstream on the GVIC Canal from the GVIC River Gates.
Key components include demolishing existing concrete sections, placing new cast-in-place concrete, removing 21 existing weld wire fish screens and cleaning equipment, installing 4 new bi-fold overshot gates and 1 dual leaf gate, installing 16 government-furnished fish screens with debris trough and conveyor system, installing control systems, and providing all necessary plumbing, electrical, and water control connections. The government will furnish approximately $2.85M worth of equipment including screens, conveyors, pumps, and control panels. Construction must be completed between Notice to Proceed and April 1st, 2026 for substantial completion, with final completion by May 1st, 2026. The work supports the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program and must accommodate simultaneous construction of a separate dam crest raising project. The contractor must maintain specific access routes, follow environmental controls, and coordinate closely with the Bureau of Reclamation's Contracting Officer Representative throughout construction.
