About this file

This document contains details regarding a federal solicitation opportunity and related travel procedures for the Bahamas. The solicitation is for a Design-Bid-Build repair project of the AUTEC Pier facility 1902 located on Andros Island in the Bahamas. The project scope involves removing the existing pier superstructure, cutting off and incorporating the existing steel piles into a new closed-pier mole-type structure with steel pipe piles and reinforced concrete decking. The repaired pier will include shore power, potable water, lighting, fire protection, and mooring hardware. A temporary mooring facility will also be constructed to allow for continued AUTEC vessel operations during construction. The solicitation is a firm-fixed price contract between $25-100 million to be awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. The second section provides travel procedures for the Bahamas, requiring a health visa application, daily health check-ins, and COVID-19 testing depending on length of stay and vaccination status. Documentation is also required for military and contractor personnel to waive certain testing for stateside return.
