About this file
This is a Test Memo for hydraulic system component replacement on the NBU-7/LARC-936 (Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo, Five Ton) vessel conducted by SRF-JRMC DET SASEBO. The test was prepared by A. Nakashima on 3/23/26, reviewed by S. Iida and S. Phillips, and approved by S. Phillips on 3/24/26. The scope involves replacement of a hydraulic system component (part numbers 589-53-001, 58331-4-100_26129, and 57078-RS01-L009) with test number SASN-26-S232-0005.
The operational test procedure certifies the satisfactory repair and replacement of hydraulic system components through comprehensive testing of engine running systems (bilge pumps, steering, service brakes, engine coolant fan drive, hydraulic oil fan drive, and moisture sensor) and craft drive systems (wheel motor brakes, shift control valve, main pumps, and rotary swivels), followed by at-sea testing of propeller shaft motor operations. All acceptance criteria must achieve satisfactory (SAT) results, with no hydraulic oil leakage permitted and specific performance thresholds required (coolant temperature at or below 190°F, hydraulic oil temperature at or below 160°F, craft speed approximately 25 mph on land and 7.5 knots at sea). The test data sheet documents pass/fail results for each component and system tested, with completion requiring sign-off by both the Local Watercraft Command (LWC) and S246 upon final verification that all test procedures have been fulfilled.

4. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
4-1 Only those personnel actively engaged in performing or witnessing this test shall be permitted in the testing area.
All specified safety regulations shall be strictly observed.
4-2 To prevent injury or death, ensure that certified test equipment is used during testing.
4-3 Safeguarding of personnel and equipment shall be adhered to at all times.
4-4 Never open the cap on the engine coolant system when the engine is hot (greater than 120°F). The system may be pressurized and contain coolant at temperatures which will cause severe burns.
4-5 Do not move the craft until all ground personnel have cleared the immediate area. Personnel in the surrounding area may be injured or killed if struck by the craft.
4-6 Do not move the craft until all personnel are securely onboard or have cleared the immediate mooring area.
Personnel in the surrounding area may be injured or killed if struck by the craft.
4-7 Personnel onboard the craft should be notified that transition from the land to water is in progress and from water to land is in progress. This notification will allow personnel to prepare for turbulence and the abrupt speed reduction when the front wheels become grounded. Failure to provide notice may result in serious injury or death to onboard personnel.
