About this file
This is a Test Memo documenting the procedures and results for certifying the satisfactory replacement of cooling system components on a LARC-V (Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo, Five Ton) vessel. The test was conducted by SRF-JRMC DET SASEBO on ship/hull NBU-7/LARC-936, with test number 58331-4-100_26127 and ESR number SASN-26-S232-0007, dated March 23, 2026.
The test procedure consists of two operational phases: an AT LAND TEST and an AT SEA TEST. The AT LAND TEST with the engine running includes three test steps evaluating fan motor solenoid operation, engine coolant radiator and fan system performance (maintaining coolant temperature at or below 190°F), and hydraulic oil radiator and fan system performance (maintaining hydraulic oil temperature at or below 160°F). The AT SEA TEST in sea mode includes three comparable test steps for seawater pump solenoid operation and cooling function of both engine coolant and hydraulic oil heat exchanger systems. All components must function properly without excessive vibration or leaks, and temperature thresholds must be maintained. The test memo includes comprehensive general precautions addressing personnel safety, equipment operation, and hazard mitigation, with all test data recorded on the TEST DATA SHEET requiring SAT (Satisfactory) or UNSAT (Unsatisfactory) evaluations by LWC and S246 personnel upon test completion.

4. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
4-1 Only those personnel actively engaged in performing or witnessing this test shall be permitted in the testing area.
All specified safety regulations shall be strictly observed.
4-2 To prevent injury or death, ensure that certified test equipment is used during testing.
4-3 Safeguarding of personnel and equipment shall be adhered to at all times.
4-4 Never open the cap on the engine coolant system when the engine is hot (greater than 120°F). The system may be pressurized and contain coolant at temperatures which will cause severe burns.
4-5 Do not move the craft until all ground personnel have cleared the immediate area. Personnel in the surrounding area may be injured or killed if struck by the craft.
4-6 Do not move the craft until all personnel are securely onboard or have cleared the immediate mooring area.
Personnel in the surrounding area may be injured or killed if struck by the craft.
4-7 Personnel onboard the craft should be notified that transition from the land to water is in progress and from water to land is in progress. This notification will allow personnel to prepare for turbulence and the abrupt speed reduction when the front wheels become grounded. Failure to provide notice may result in serious injury or death to onboard personnel.
